We are driving down for the first time in years. We live in Northern NJ.

1. Leave NJ and spend night in Richmond, Va (approx. 6 hr ride)
2. Wake up and spend the day touring Richmond, leave after dinner and spend the night at Lumberton, NC (3 hour trip, will arrive around 9pm)
3. Travel from Lumberton to Savannah (around 3 1/2 hr. ride), spend the afternoon/evening touring Savannah.
4. Leave Savannah in the am and arrive at the Residence Inn in Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral (4 hr. drive). Spend 3 nights there before arriving at Caribbean Beach Resort for 10 nights.

Drive home with 1 stopover, don't know where yet. We are traveling the end of Aug/beginning of Sept.

I would skip no 4 & adjust No 3

That makes Travel No 3 Lumberton to Cocoa Beach ==== 7 1/2 Hours Saving 1 night stay

Return Drive to Savannah Stay overnight Next day explore Savannah & take it from there.

Looks fine, if you are taking a relaxed trip. I'd have to lean toward Woodview's comment, of skipping Savannah in step 3 on the way down. WDW to Savannah is right at 300 miles. You are breaking up the trip into several short drives, which works fine, but would not be my preference. If you are set on touring Savannah, hit that on the way back, and use it as your stopover.

I like the way you have it with the mini-attractions on the way down there... In anticipation of getting to the main destination. Once your stay at CBR wraps up, for us at least, it would be basically a straight shot home. Stopover to sleep maybe, but not much in the way of touring. But I don't care for 3 hotel stays on such a short drive. I would cut that down to 2. If you want to tour Richmond and Savannah:

Day 1: Drive to Richmond, have dinner, spend the night in Richmond.
Day 2: Drive straight thru to Savannah. See Savannah that night and/or the next morning, then drive to Florida.

3 hotels would be too much checking in and checking out for me. If you want to stretch it to 3 days, I would extend your stay in Savannah and do something cool there, whatever it is that's causing you to want to stop there in the first place.

That's everyone. Stopping at Savannah on the way back won't work because we are going to drive the majority of our trip when we leave Florida on the Sunday of labor day weekend. I want to make it up to Virginia and then have around 5/6 hours on Memorial day morning.

I thought Savannah would be a nice tourist area to see that is not too far off of I-95. Can anyone else recommend any other places to sight see on the way down to FLA that are not too out of the way from I-95? Maybe we should go to a beach area? We are still up in the air about where to go other then Disney for 9 nights.
