How does one set up a Roth IRA?

Do I need to find a financial planner or can I do this on my own? Would love some advice :). TIA!
 
You can do it on your own.

I have mine setup with Fidelity. You can call them or Vanguard..i'm sure others as well - i set up a target date type meaning they invest it more conservatively as i get closer to retirement age.

I set up a set amount each month for them to withdraw from my checking account.

We set ours up online with Vanguard. We have called them several times, just to make sure that we were on track, and they are very helpful and provided great customer service.
 
I echo the sentiments on Vanguard. They are easy to work with, Very helpful. Have been with them for over 10 years. And a Roth is the way to go. When we retired, we met with an accountant who advised us not to change some of our funds over to a Roth. Other people advised the same thing. We invested in Roth accounts anyway. When we bought a second home in Florida, it was nice to be able to withdraw funds from the Roth without worrying how much tax we would have to pay.
 

Just another option, we set ours up through Charles Schwab. I did it all on-line, called if I had questions and once a year, I go meet with my local representative just to be sure we are on track with our IRAs and our DD's 529 plan.
