Sorry this probably sounds stupid but how does the Halloween Party work.

Is the party after MK closes?

If so is it best to have a lazy day ie swimming pools / shopping etc.. and then head for the party in the evening.

And is this one of the 90 day booking events. I've heard there are only 20,000 tickets sold for the event.

Any help would be appreciated for this first timer to WDW.

The event is on multiple nights throughout October. The sell out nights are normally the ones closer to Halloween itself. The dates usually are confirmed sometime during April and I believe there are unconfirmed nights already posted. Once the dates are official you can purchase tickets.
People have stated that you can get into MK at around 4pm using the party pass. When MK closes you will be directed over to Tomorrowland where you can get a wristband if you didnt aleady get 1 on park entry. The park "closes" for about an hour (the rides in tomorrowland will be available for use if you show your wristband) The park will then fully reopen for the party. If you dont fancy being herded into Tomorrowland then a good tip is to book a meal so that you will be leaving it around when the party starts.
Hope that helps.

Went to MNSSHP last year - excellent. Had a lazyish day at the waterpark followed by a siesta & arrived at MK about 5pm and entered on the party ticket (great service on buying these direct from Disney & had them posted to UK). Rode everything in tomorrowland, incl. CoP by the time the party officially started. As had DD (4) & DN (6) stuck mainly to toontown, fantasyland, trick or treating & the parade & came away with nags of candy. We finally left rather weary at 1130 & drove past PI in time to see their New Year celebrations - magical.

We had a lazy morning and arrived at about 4pm ish too. Between 6pm and 7pm - we got absolutely loads done. Then at 7pm we headed straight for Adventureland and got our photo done straight away, before starting the trick or treating :)

Hi,we visited orlando last october and went to the seaworld spooktackular for halloween-we did not need to buy an extra ticket for this(unlike mnsshp)and it was great fun.If you want to see the shamu show get there 45 mins before it kicks off or you wont get a seat.Loads of trick or treating and people in costumes for the kids.

For the last two trips, we've spent from 10 - 2/3ish at Typhoon Lagoon, headed back to the hotel for DD's other swim session (I did laundry/read book at this stage last year;) ) then headed over to MNSSHP at 5.30. We were sent over to Tomorrowland and got to ride Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear loads of times with no queues:Pinkbounc
