How does Disney's fondant taste?

I am thinking of having our cake sparkle dusted (sugar) over the fondant. It is not inexpensive, though, and I am trying to decide whether it would just be for the purpose of it looking pretty in pictures, or if people will, in fact, eat the fondant, and the sugar would make it taste better. What do you think?

Its incredibly sweet and kind of has an odd texture, like melted candy corns. I was one of the few who ate it at our wedding but after a couple of bites, I peeled it off (and I like sweet) Personally, I wouldn't expect anyone to eat it, its just not that great so if you want the sugar to make it better, I wouldn't, since its really sweet to begin with. But if you want it for pretty pictures, go for it!

HTH

I did try it and Stitchbride has a good reference to candy corn. However when my cake slices were served they did not have the fondant on it, only the buttercream frosting.

That's the other thing I forgot to mention....sometimes they leave it on, sometimes they don't and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. So if you do want it left on (or not) you should specifically mention that to your planner.

Hmmm... our fondant tasted like hardened Playdoh (only less salty) - not sweet at all... but at least it looked pretty! :cutie:

Thanks, Carrie! I would think yours might have also tasted like food coloring! ;) It is still one of the most gorgeous cakes I have ever seen, even in the kazillion bridal magazines I've perused! :goodvibes

As a matter of fact, I just pulled a piece off of the top layer of our cake and tried it about an hour ago. (We just got home from Disney, the cruise starts on Thursday).

I second the candy corns comment also. Very sweet, really chewy, but with a strange texture of chewiness.

:lmao:

Hold your horses please!

We still haven't left for the honeymoon!

We're waiting for my family to get back from the parks, then it's off to dinner, then tomorrow is more family time and time in the parks. We're still very much in the middle of it all.

yeah, yeah, yeah. :lmao: Haven't you seen where brides have posted pix while they were getting ready and when they returned to their room between a reception and dessert party? I think you could set a very nice standard for the men by posting details & pix now. Your family will understand, I'm sure!! Hey, I'm sure there are a lot more of US than them!! Where are your loyalties, man? :rotfl2:

The fondant is usually always removed-it is not just random. As for the taste, it tastes like marshmallow.

Most people do not eat it.
