I keep trying to plan future vacations...and when I'm done adding up the expenses I think....wow....I could go to Disney again if I didn't go to X.......How do I go any where else??????(I'm not sure if I really want to).....but I'd like to think about it....

Brian made me look up some other vacation areas......first of all I am lost at looking up these hotels and such.......whaaaaaaaaa.....just got back from disney last Saturday night and I want to make another ressie already......OH YAH......forgot to tell you.....hubby maxed out on Buzz Lightyear..........funny thing he found a few Z's that were 100,000 ......we had to do that of course a few times........tell me if you know anything about any other vacation area.....

I am the only one in the family that is crazy about Disney - so I go to WDW solo and plan trips elsewhere for all of us. As much as I love WDW, I would never make that my only vacation destination. There are too many wonderful places in the world to visit to spend all one's time in Orlando.

The last 2 WDW vacations were a result of planning other vacations....and after seeing the cost....saying "I could go to WDW for LESS than that". So.....we did. :teeth:

Once you know all the secrets of discounts at WDW.....it's REALLY not expensive for everything you get to do & how well kept everything is. :)

So.......... I may never get to go anywhere else. LOL

First you need one family member who is not a disney freak.

We are planning a trip to Australia this summer, and all I keep thinking is I could buy into DVC for what this one is costing!!

Seriously we just made up our minds that we needed to explore alternates once a year. So we involve all of us in the planning. We broke this trip into things each of us wanted to do.

My son is planning the outback section, I am planning the more historic stuff and my DH , well he is mapping out the pubs.

This is our 3rd year in a row renting a beach house with my db & dear cousin & their families. I am itching to get back to Disney but my DSIL didn't want to take my niece until she was old enough to enjoy it.

Thankfully, it looks like next year is it! I love to vacation with my brother, cousin & their families because my DD7 gets along so well with my nephew & other cousins.

Both sides of my family are talking about a family reunion type thing there & I am chomping at the bit, "I'll plan it! I'll plan it!" The problem is that there is always a family member with a new baby who wants to wait  My DS is 17mos. and I am ready to take him. I think he would love a lot of things at Disney. What's the difference? The baby won't remember the beach, either.

Okay, I'm done! :p

The girls and I are planning a road trip this year and not going to WDW...can you believe it?

We will hit Niagra Falls, Cedar point, in Ohio, and Chicago...on the way back the Poconos and NJ :)

Ok just priced skiing for 6 out west...about $7000....if I'm lucky....I don't think I going to be very good at this...

its the $800 in airfare thats the killer

If we lived within driving distance Im sure we wouldnt be vacationing anywhere else - and needing to buy more DVC points

I'm pretty much sold on Disney/Universal and on the Blue Ridge Mountains in VA. :teeth: I go to either any time. I tried Club Med in FL a couple times. It's okay, but a couple times was enough. Too boring.

I do, all the time. Whether or not they actually happen is another story. So far this year I had a Vegas/DL trip. (ok part of that doesn't count) ;) Then there's the Cedar Point trip for John-COn, followed closely by our annual WDW and surrounding area family trip. Then there's a trip to NYC in July and a possible trip to Wisconsin late July/early August. That's as far as I've gotten so far. :teeth: But you know there are ideas in the works for Fall and beyond. LOL

I love to see new places so I am constantly planning trips to lots of places even though we don't make it to all of them. ;) I've been thinking about a northern California/Las Vegas trip lately.

It's easy to plan trips elsewhere - It's a big beautiful world out there and Disney is only a very small part of it.

Barb,
Even though your trips are not to Disney, I did detect some Disney in them. I think traveling to DIS meets counts as a Disney fix!

Actually, I think it is easier for someone like me to plan lots of vacations other places then the Zurg family. First there are SIX Zurgs, so I would think Disney is one of the few places that ALL of them would find something they like. Plus kids generally don't like several days of cultural activies like Museums so you need kind of active vacations! Boy this gets complicated.

Personally, I love to travel and will go anywhere. I am not as bad as a friend of mine. She moved to a small town for business and when someone asked her if she wanted to go on a trip she announced that she was so bored she would go to Bagdad.

Now there's somewhere I have no interest in going. :(

I love to travel and will use any reason for a trip. A DIS meet provides the perfect reason. ;) There are so many places I still need to see. I better get planning.

Well yes, we plan trips elsewhere. :) Going to Hawaii for two weeks in July. :sunny:

That is what has happened to me the past two yrs with our main vacation. I start to plan vacations to somewhere else and end up at Disney! LOL
MIne you I am not complaining. I am the house Disney nut here raising a jr disney nut and trying to convert a Grumpy old man :p

We go camping for a week every year with the extended family in either the northern lower or the u.p. Both are so beautiful. DH and I are going on our first cruise, to Alaska in June...but we are sneaking in a trip to disney in May. See our annual passes haven't expired, I just got a great deal on the Swan, and one of the airplane tickets was free and we couldn't have used it to fly to Vancouver..........
We are also going to Chicago this summer to see Vareki after being hooked on La Nouba.

But disney well its just disney no explanation needed.
