How does a nonowner rent points from an owner?

Looking to arrive Nov. 20th for three nights. Looking for accommodations for four. Possibly interested in renting from a member. I believe I've heard someone mention this before, but how does it work? Thanks.

Read the FAQs at the top of the Rent/Trade Board. But, it will be a very long shot to get Nov 20 for three nights at this late date. Most owners make their reservations 11 months out for holiday times.

In addition to the short notice, one of the three nights you're looking for is a weekend night. DVC members pay a premium for Friday and Saturday nights, which would likely eat up the majority of your savings. You could consider renting points for Sunday and Monday night, and paying cash for Saturday...but again it's a bit of an enormous longshot at this point.

October and November are very popular times with DVC members due to the Food and Wine Fest. We've also had a lot of members changing resorts and/or trip dates due to the recent hurricanes and specifically their impact on the Vero Beach DVC resort. Most folks are reporting DVC at near 100% capacity between now and the end of the year.

You may already be too late. That's also the beginning of Thanksgiving week. There may be nothing left already beginning on the Sunday night.
