Just curious to find out how you all transfer from the airport to your hotels in in Orlando?
I was thinking of using Mears transport, but have only heard absolutely horrible things about it.
Then, I thought about the towncar, but I will be travelling solo and cannot justify spending $100 USD for just myself.
Then I thought a cab, but have no idea what the cost would be.
Then, I thought about renting a car, but I will be staying in a hotel that offers free shuttle transportation to and from the parks.
So, now I feel extremely confused. Just curious as to what you all do.
Thanks,
J

Hi Jo,

we always rent a car since it is the most convenient way of getting around, even when the hotel has a shuttle.

More often than not, the shuttles are not that convenient, and do not provide the freedom that a car offers.

Even when we stay at a Disney resort, we still get a car since we like to be able to go shopping (outlet malls, Florida mall, etc) or go eat outside WDW, since it is often cheaper (Tony Roma's on Int'l Drive, the Crab House, etc).

Besides Mears can be a bit of a pain, and the cost of rental is not that bad, and taxis do not seems to be that plentiful either.

I've been using one of the towncar services mostly because I don't want to drive on my vacation :p We don't really leave Disney property (unless we're going to the outlet malls) so Disney transportation works for us... I can see how $100 is a bit much for just one person. Have you checked out the Adults/Solo and Transportation boards? They might have some suggestions for you :)

Our school secretary went to Florida at March break-her, her two sons, 1 daughter-in-law, and 2 granddaughters. They used Mears, and she said that it was great! It was there when she got there, so there was no wait, and she ordered it the day before coming home with no problem at all. I think, if I were going solo, I'd try Mears, just based on her experience. (and yes, I know that there are horror stories. ;) ) HTH alleviate any fears! Oh, and lucky you--you get to go to WDW!!!::yes::

The past 2 trips, we've used Tiffany Towncar. We don't leave WDW property once we get there, though. Tiffany has been so great we probably won't use anything else again unless we one day decided to rent a car. :)

Prior to that, though, we used Mears many times and never had a problem with them. Yes, the waits were a little longer than with a towncar, and it takes a bit longer to get to your hotel with the other stops, but it was never anything unbearable. Plus you sometimes get a nice tour of the other hotels. The downside is you're totally at the mercy of their schedule, however at most (all?) Disney hotels they have pretty frequent pick-ups.

If you don't want to go towncar or rental (or a taxi, which if I'm not mistaken would cost about the same as a towncar), I'd also say try Mears.

It all depends if you are looking for economy or convenience. The Lynx bus is the cheapest. $2.50 round trip, ut it could take you 2 hours . If your hotel is on #192 it isn't too bad. I've done it. Mears is more convenient, but more money. $28.00 round trip. I use it quite a lot, and have never had a problem. People in a rush prefer town cars or taxis which are quite expensive- perhaps $100.00 or more round trip. For only one person, that may not be the way to go.

I appreciate all the responses..I am posting a new thread about renting a car...
Thanks,
Jo

I would rent the car it does'nt cost that much more then what you are paying and you can come and go where you want.
