How do you tote your camera?

I'm the proud new owner of a Cannon EOS Rebel Ti with a couple of fancy lenses. I'm planning on taking it (and it's friends, LOL) in to the parks with me, but for the life of me (I'm just way simple) I just can't figure out how to carry it. They used to have simple little hard cases for the lens and body, but now nothing but the big gadget bag things. I'm afraid to put it in my backpack to rattle around with the rest of the junk, so what do I do? I'm also cheap, and can't see springing for the 60 $ camera back pack.
Any ideas? What do you all do? Ah, the simple days of my APS point and shoot.

Buy a good case or hold it in both hands the whole time. For a camera and lenses like that you need something that will protect it so that you can continue taking it to the parks in the future.

I have the same camera. I did buy one of the smaller camera bags that just holds the body, lens and several rolls of film and a couple of filters. I would try to figure out how much you will need to take with you. Maybe you don't need all your lenses, or at least everytime you go out. We're out morning to night, so I made sure to consolidate.

I mostly carried my small camera bag, but DH had a backpack that I would carry extras in, or sometimes I would put my camera bag in the backpack.

To me, the camera is a very big investment, so you will want to protect it. On the other hand, you will want a bag that makes it easy to take your camera out.

There were a few times that i just carried the camera around my neck, depending on what we were doing, but I never felt comfortable doing that.

If you're gonna carry more than one lens, the backpack camera bag would be a good idea though. I saw several people with those, it would be a back saver. Lugging that camera around all day gets tiresome.

I have a nice bag, it holds the lenses, filters, film and my little cameras nicely. So, since it holds all that stuff, it is kinda big. too big to fit in my backpack, but small enough to take in the car etc. So, I think I need to spring for the one that holds just the camera with the small zoom on it. I guess I'm going to the camera shop tomorrow!

I put my cameras (video and SLR) in our backpack with a hand towel to buffer and cushion them, but most of the time they are on someones neck. I keep my digital camera in my fanny pack. Before I got the digital, I would keep my telephoto lens in there. Now that gets wrapped in the towel too. And when we purchase T-Shirts I use them to provide extra cushioning. I have been doing this several years without a problem.

I have a camera bag that attaches to my belt or fanny pack.
It holds the camera, extra lenses, digital media and batteries.
I purchased two of them at WalMart a couple of years ago and one in Sept. at Disney.

I actually have the Canon Rebel G. I bought my camera bag from the camera store in Epcot. It has seperate sections for your film, lenses, and the camera itself. It is my favorite bag. I don't remember how much it cost, but you might want to take a look at their camera bags while you are there.

I know this sounds simple, but whatever you take, make sure you zip up the carrier EVERY time you use it. I used my camera bag b/c I had a stroller to carry it in. At some point I changed lenses and didn't zip up the bag and lost not only a precious roll of pics, but my lens that came with the camera.

Now, whenever I want to take pics I have to stand WWWAAAYYYY back from the subject as my only lens is a zoom lens, lol.

I posted a similar question but the bags not a problem. The problem is where do you leave it for the roller coasters and such when theres no room to carry it on ?

Yesterday I bought a Ricoh 28mm fixed camera which can be carried in your pocket and regret not being able to carry ny Nikon and lenses to the park.

I have always taken my cameras and equipment with me on the rides, even the coasters. What I do is set the bag down on the floor and wrap the strap around my foot a few times so that I know the bag isn't going anywhere. Since we have like 3 bags my hubby does this with one, I do it with another, and my 13 year old gets the last bag. We have never had any trouble with it so far.

Ok, bag issue almost solved! I got a holster type that will hold the camera body with the smaller zoom lens attached. There's some room for film, id etc. It will fit quite nicely in my new backpack I picked up today at Wal mart for only $2.00. Now I think I'll get a lens bag. (they have medium sized for under $20) and I'll be all set. I thought about the towel padding idea, but I need to carry so much stuff (2 kids) that it would give me fits to have anyone else dig around in there.
About the what to do with it on roller coasters: I've always taken the backpack and have done the same as andromedaslove. Just step on the strap or wrap around your foot. Never a problem.
