I’m looking forward to seeing the results of this poll. Why? Because it seems like chewing gum isn’t as popular today as it used to be. I don’t see commercials for it like I did in the past and I don’t see people chewing it like I did in the past (I work with the public and see lots of people every week). When I decided to do this poll, I decided to discuss the benefits of chewing gum. Let’s learn about that…

Some of these I already knew, but I didn’t know about the mental and cognitive benefits - I like to learn something new everyday. So let’s find out if you chew gum and why. Give us your sticky chewy answer today…..

Are you a gum chewer?
If yes…..for what benefit?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….My answer is Sometimes. I used to chew gum all the time, but my favorite gum got discontinued so I don’t chew gum as often now. My favorite reason for chewing gum is for Appetite Management. When I get hungry, I’ll put gum into my mouth instead of a food item and it really does trick my brain into not feeling as hungry. I really need to get over the fact that my favorite gum is gone, start trying other gums and carrying gum in my purse again.

I chew gum occasionally. I used to chew it often, then got invisaligns, so had to stop.
Trying to get back in the habit. It helps me not snack.

Huge fan of it I’ve always got gum usually bubblegum and I should just because I like chewing gum I will have it when I go on a plane so my ears don’t pop so much but I can usually chew a piece every day just to chew gum and sit and blow bubbles And occasionally in the office just to annoy my coworker 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I used to as a young kid, bubblegum, and also as a teen, Beechnut Spearmint, sponsor of Dick Clark's Beechnut Show so many years ago. Nothing now for many years. Marie will often chew gum Trident. It contains the sweetener Xylitol. One of her blood pressure meds makes her mouth very dry. The Xylitol in the gum helps with that a lot.

Like others when I was young . Was one that liked to snap it and blow bubbles.

Out grow it I guess. Plus have dental work that I don’t want to harm.

I chew gum sometimes. I lost my lower saliva glass during radiation treatments and helps to keep my mouth lubricated which cuts down on cavities.

I chew gum sometimes. My most likely reasons are -

as a breath-freshener

when I feel like I want to eat but I'm really bored, not hungry

sugar-free gum when I feel like food left residue on or between my teeth

when I'm on an airplane and don't want my ears to feel funny

specifically to blow bubbles to amuse kids

I chew it nearly every day. I keep a bag of Mentos gum in my car and pop a few before hitting the gym. I do something similar before long walks. There's something about chewing that helps me maintain a consistent brisk pace. I do also find it excellent for appetite (suppressant) and anti-anxiety.

I chew a lot of gum. The main reason is because I like it. The main benefit is that it freshens up my mouth and is just the right “little something” when I feel like having a treat but really don’t need to eat, or when I’m genuinely hungry but food isn’t immediately available. As a smoker, I take nicotine gum with me when I’m somewhere that smoking is prohibited for hours on end.

Can recall chewing gum when I was younger and always found getting rid of it kinda gross and stopped after that. "Health benefits" of chewing gum sounds like clever marketing to me................LOL.
