  • leave cash on table

With the new system where the gratuity is not included in DDP, we would actually pay it by credit card. That was not one of the choices, so I voted leave cash. We decline room-charging to avoid problems.

We just charge it to the room. We've never had a problem. The tip is just added to the DDE portion of the bill.

Last trip bil and sil had, they were double charged by using their kktw. So, we'll be actually determining how much we will spend on each meal, preloading Amex prepaid cards for 20% of that amount, and handing our server a "Thank you" card with the prepaid card in there.

Wow...this seems like a lot of work. Why not just bring enough cash for every TS? :confused3

I am sure the server would appreciate that more and it would be less work on you.

I voted cash - that is what we are planning to do in Sept

We do not carry cash. Never have thought it was safe to do. We also do not have credit cards because if you pay the bill every month, why not just use a debit card? Why even chance maxing out the card? After bil and sil had their debit card carged twice for their tips and for the ddp in Januar.y, we came up with this. She/he is still getting the same amount of money, but in a safer form for us to carry.

When we were at WDW last month we just charged the tips back to the room. I went by guest services at our resort (OKW) the day before check out and paid cash to settle our account. It was easy.

I would leave cash, figuring the server would want the cash in hand then and there. If I were a server, I would rather have cash. Not that I would not be appreciative of whatever was left for me. But Disney dollars and AMEX cards do not seem as practical for either party involved. JMO :goodvibes

For our upcoming trip, I'll be leaving a cash tip. I don't bring much cash with me but i do bring traveler's checks. I'll use them for purchases & save some of the cash for tips.

Most of the pre-paid gift cards actually cost $$ to buy them. Therefore you are losing out in the long run. the AMEX ones here in Baltimore cost $4.95 just to activate.

We charged to the room in Jan. and had no problems so we'll do it again over Easter.

It is actually all the same. I have been a server for 12 years, always got all my money before I left whether it was cash or credit card.

You settle up with the restaurant at the end of the shift, the credit tips are just deducted from what you "owe" the restaurant when you cash out, and you keep all your tips..

But I would always leave cash as a tip anyway, just makes it easier for me. I always carry cash but I think I am one of the only ones that do. We never allow room charging. We did that once and we did not like how it ended up..lol too easy to forget that you have to settle up at the end. So we pay everything in cash.

Doing cash in June and Sept. started saving up $5s and $10s and we will be ready with cash. For some reason we don't like using the card for anything other the DDP and getting in the room.
:cool1: :hippie: :cool2: :flower3:

We used to leave cash until we heard stories of servers stealing tips from tables that did not belong to them. Since then we have always charged our tips...
