I know many people prefer to have the tip charged to their room key but we prefer cash....

We are going during free dining and would like to use cash for our servers tip. How do we make sure it doesn't get charged to the room key? Last time we used the dining plan the tip was included so this part is new to us....

If there are fewer than 6 people in your party....write CASH on the tip line and then leave cash.

If there are 6 or more in your party, tell the server that you'd like to settle the bill with cash.

I sorta just touched on this in another thread, so I'll do a quick copy paste...

The bill looks like this....

----------------------------------------------------
4 adults @$25 = $100
tax = $6
---------------------
Total = $106

TIP: ______________

18% = $18
20% = $20

TOTAL: ____________
----------------------------------------------------

The server drops this off for you, along with a pen. The server will need your room card to take care of the dining plan. If you want to charge the tip to your room, write in whatever amount you want. The DDP takes care of the meals, and the tip will be charged to your room. If you want to tip on a separate credit card, write in the amount, and give that credit card, along with your room key to the server. If you want to leave cash, just toss in whatever amount you want into the check presenter along with your room key. When the server comes by again to grab the check presenter, this would be the time to either say you'll need the money(ex: a $20, 50, etc) broken down into smaller bills, or simply tell the server the cash is all for them. Its best to tell the server what you want. With the above example, if you had bad service, and tossed a $20 in the check presenter, the server might think you liked the service and needed no change. Simply stating what you want done makes it easiest for everyone.

The tipping info thread has been posted. Please refer all tipping questions to that thread.
