how do you thaw

I took my 20 pound turkey out and put it in the fridge on Saturday

I'm thawing mine in the sink in cold water. I've seen on foodtv that this was safe.

I don't know how big it is, but my mom had me take the turkey from the freezer and put it in the fridge on Saturday. Seems like a lot of thawing time. But, my mom's the expert.

My mother has does this since I was old enough to remember and it has always been ok. If any part is sticking out of the water cover it with a wet towel.

Myst

I put mine in the frig on Saturday. I have thawed mine in water before - well, not when it was entirely frozen, but partially. It worked fine. You're just supposed to keep changing the cold water about every 30 minutes until it thaws out.

we spent half our lives eating food thawed on the counter. Nobody ever got sick. I don't do it because my kids lecture me on food safety. But I swear otherwise turkeys take forever to thaw. What happens when you buy your turkey two days before the big day.

I start it in the refrigerator, but if it's still frozen today, get that puppy a sink full of cool water!!!!!
