How do you tan?

i never burn. i tan dark, deep and it stays a long time. which translates to i still have tanlines from 2008.

i happen to get a sunburn and it turns tan..sometimes.
i'm naturally very pale.

Yeah I just burn and it's pretty painful and then it turns into a nice tan.
But it's been raining so hard on the upper east coast that I don't think I'll ever get tan

I've never had a burn before, but it does take a looooong time for my skin to tan. it'l be august before i have any form of colour.
i refuse to fake tan though, i find that concept terrifying, even the spray tans.
I'd pull a Ross Gellar and screw it up somehow!


my sister is a redhead and she burns like nobody's business, she wears spf 70 and applies like every 15 mins, last time we were in FLA and spent a day @ the beach she stayed under the umbrella almost all day, draped in a towel, applying SPF 70 every 15 mins and STILL managed to get a burn on her foot!

I don't really tan or burn. I can spend all day outside and I have tan marks and then it fades away overnight.
The only few times I have gotten a burn was at a water park and I didn't reapply sunscreen and was in the sun for hours and in aruba where I went out on a boat which made the sun 10x worse.

Over mMemorial Day weekend I got burned ALL over my body, and I wasnt even trying to tan. I was at work and I wasnt expecting to be in the sun so I didnt put lotion on. It was soooooooo painful, but at least I now have a nice tan to show for it

I'm already naturally kinda tan, I don't burn but I still tan.
I don't tan on purpose though.
And I especially don't fake tan, that looks disgusting.

I play four hours of tennis outside and read/chill outside so i just get tan that way.

I have sweet tan lines...last summer i had a great farmer's tan and i wore a knee brace so like one of my knees was plain white. This summer I'm trying to vary it up, so I've been wearing more sleeveless shirts and whatnot. But for a week into summer I'm probably ten times more tan than all my other friends.

I'm 85% Irish so there ya go.
I'm really pale, compared to all my friends.
We had an end of the year "ice cream social" at school on Wednesday, we were outside for like 45-60 mins in a area with lots of trees but I managed to get a sunburn on the back of my neck. Everyone made fun of me.

ditto. When I started track season, I had last years singlet lines.... it was great.

I think it's the little bit of Native American blood I managed to inheirit.

Even when the burn goes away...theres nothing there except my pale self.

I'm suppper white. So bad that my friends took a piece of off-white paper up to my skin and it almost blended in.

Doesn't matter how much sunscreen i apply or re-apply...i WILL burn.

My skin is finicky.
It's never one set method.
Sometimes I'll burn, then tan. Sometimes I'll just tan, othertimes burn with no tan. My older brother can't tan, my younger brother tans amazingly. I guess I've got the mixed tanning ability, lol. :]

I usually will get burned once in the beginning of the summer & then I tan very easily through out. By the end of the summer I get very dark I love it! Must be the Native American coming out in me.

I'm so jealous of my guy "friend" he's Italian & is already tan...lucky butt.
