How do you "stock" your room with food at BLT?

We will be going "home" to BLT for the first time next month. I was wondering what is the best way to get food to keep in the room. (we will be without a car). Has anyone ever used a cab to go to the grocery store and had them wait until you were done shopping? How much (generally) would something like that cost? I know there is a market at the Contemporary. We would just need the basics, like milk, cereal, pop tarts, snacks, soda. Can you purchase all of that there, and is it really expensive? I also know about Garden Grocer, and we are considering that also. Just trying to figure out the most cost-efficient way to do this.

We keep very little in our room... Just milk coffee and some small snacks most of which we pack otherwise we buy it at the store at the resort.
If you wnat to save on drinks you can go to the hess station either across form BW or DTD. They are a lot cheaper for drinks including beer.
DTD get off at Pleasure Island stop and walk away for PI and it is across the street--you will see it when the bus turns into PI
BW take bus to BW and walk towards the Parking lots--keep walking and is across the street.
The DTD location is easier

Use Garden Grocer or wegoshop. We took a cab for a pharmacy emergency once and it was much more expensive than the shopping fee we pay for wegoshop. And you won't waste your precious vacation time. We save tons by getting beer, water, drinks and snacks from walmart.

We've shopped locally and used Garden Grocer. We will have a car available on our next trip but we are still planning on getting our groceries delivered so we don't have to leave the parks to shop.

Last trip we had a towncar from the airport to BLT and a 15 minute side trip to a Pulbix was included in the fee. So we did that.

Our next trip in December, we'll have a rental car and will probably hit the same Publix on the way in to AKV.

I've used a grocery service, but I prefer renting a car for a day and doing it myself. A day rental isn't that much usually.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas I never thought of!! Has anyone actually taken a cab from BLT to grocery store and had them wait while you shopped? Just curious how much that would cost. Seems the garden grocer prices are a little high, but might still work out cheaper than a cab.

Thanks again!!

I was staying at the Beach Club and got a ride to church, the Shrine that you can see from Rt. 4. I had to take a cab back to BCV and it was $30 with the tip! I really think a cab would be more expensive than Garden Grocer.

Check the prices on the grocery lists on the DVC member website. When we only need a few things we go to the store in the gift shop and pick up the items there. You would probably do better at the Hess gas station for sodas .
