I am doing a MAJOR spring cleaning and selling tons of things to put aside money for disney. I have $60 so far. Had $60 more but had to pay some bills. I'm putting this aside over and above my money I'm taking, cuz I believe every little bit helps:) My goal is to sell some other items for about $200 and have that, plus my birthday money later this mo for $50 and $75 of disney gift cards. I will also have another $25 gc soon as well. What are some of your saving tips or things you do to save? We're also cutting out on eating out as much as possible. We usually eat out almost every night. I'm trying to cook home now.

1. We stopped eating out for dinner.
2. We plan our week's meals based on what's on sale, and stock up on non-perishibles when they're on sale.
3. I stopped eating out for lunch at work.
4. Any "found" money goes in a Disney popcorn bucket and at the end of the month I deposit it into the Disney savings account. (Like if I pay cash for something and I have a couple dollars change, into the bucket instead of into a vending machine.)
5. I listed and sold a bunch of stuff on Amazon Marketplace.
6. I stopped buying "stuff" for myself. This year I am not buying anything I don't absolutely need. Socks and underwear, yes. Silly teeshirts for wearing on the weekend? No. Books? Library. DVDs? Library.
7. I JUST started doing surveys online. You can get Disney gift cards as your payout. Several people here recommended it, I haven't gotten to the $25 to be able to cash out, so we'll see if this works.
8. My dental insurance costs went down this year, so all of that money is going directly into the Disney fund.
9. Any money I save with coupons I throw an IOU into the Disney bucket and when it hits $10 I get cash back from the grocery store and put it in the bucket and rewrite the IOU.
10. In Michigan we get 10c for pop bottle returns. That money goes into the disney bucket the same way the coupon money does.\
11. I get two bonuses a year (totalling about $1600 after taxes). Disney fund.

Hoping to save up about $6800 between now and next March.

thanks. we're doing the change thing too. Any found or extra change goes into the jar. I'm selling things on cl too. I don't do ebay or amazon.com. What survey sites do disney gift cards and are they legit? How long does it take to get them?

What I do is figure out an average cost of what everything would be and then divide that into whatever months before the trip. I have an account set up linked to checking and every paycheck money gets put into this account. I don't even look at it until I'm ready to book. So if $100 a check gets moved into that account I don't even miss it.

I don't cut out eating out or personal wants to go to Disney. It just doesn't seem worth it for me to cut out stuff I enjoy to just take a trip.

That works out well if you can afford to do that. We can't afford to have a line item for vacations in our budget all the time, only if we're specifically saving up for a trip. In that case, it has to come from somewhere.

Not just for Disney, but for life in general, the 'no-buy' thread has been great! It helps you realize where your money is going and find ways to save. Going home and stopping for a burger on the ay? Instead, try to get another no-buy day.

We plan our vacations ahead so we can organize a Disney savings account & don't use credit cards. If we can not pay cash for it we just don't do it. :goodvibes

Sounds like you guys are taking a great step just by eating out less, it's amazing how much money you can save by doing this.

She has some great ideas on how to save for Disney. Doing all of them would be a full-time job in itself, but take what you can use and run with it.

Personally, the ideas I've profited from are signing up for ebates, links to printable coupons and tips on couponing at Target, where you can stack Target coupons with manufacturer coupons.

She'll also post bonus codes for Pampers and Huggies reward programs and Disney Movie Rewards.

Good luck!

I used quickrewards.net for disney gift cards. I know they pay. Because paid for my whole trip to US and Sea World taking surveys.

I am not sure going on vacations this summer. The kids and I talking about taking days to Dollywood, Splash Country and Six Flags.

We use YNAB and are on a fairly strict budget. I enter every penny spent in there and make sure we don't go over. In fact, I really need to get something else shaved from our budget at the moment. I have been overspending (for the chiropractor mostly but feel it is necessary for a few months).

I also put a set amount into ING each month from our paycheck so that I don't even see it. I have several ING accounts but one is for the computer we are buying in May and another is for Vacation.

You have reminded me I have some things to sell.....I should get on that. I can probably scrounge up another $300-$400 with those items.

For now, we don't really do any other overnight vacations. We do family day trips to lots of fun places, but not having to pay for a hotel means more money for Disney.

Had to laugh. Today's deal is BOGO for fish fil-a sandwiches at McDonald's....that is all fine and good but once I add in fries and drinks there isn't much savings there!

Not to mention only one child likes fish sandwiches, so the rest would want something else.

I don't spend any change, that goes into the "Disney bucket"

I set up a savings with my bank that everytime I use my debit card, a dollar goes into the savings account.

I have listed a lot of items to go into a children's consignment sale

Any "extra" money (rebates, etc) goes into the Disney bucket

If you make it a priority, you will find it can be done!!!
