Hi!

How do you save at Jcpenney? Gift cards, coupons? I am looking for the best way to save at Jcpenney and seems they don't release new coupons anymore. Any help?;)

I don't save at JCP since the changes, the things I would normally buy on sale, are not worth it at full price since I can get stuff at Kohls or Macys that is less expensive when they have their sales. I don't shop at JCP anymore. They did send out $10 "not a coupon" coupons recently and I used it for some socks.
I think most people probably shop the clearance racks to save money. I think the store marks stuff down on Fridays, but like the 1st and 3rd or something like that.

I save money by not shopping there. ;)

I have a JCP near my office. I bought two tutu skirts on clearance last week for my 5 year old daughter for $2 each. The clearance racks sometimes have really good ideas on children's clothing.

I just used my $10 off "coupon" to make my first purchase since January! I did notice that their clearance prices were pretty good. I also noticed that they are carrying "Little Miss Mismatch" socks and pajamas which my kids like.

Your answer made me smile. Good one. :cool1:

:) My answer was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I hope it didn't come off as if I'm some super frugal shopper, because I certainly am not. :rotfl:

Even with all the changes, JcPenney doesn't appeal to me. It will always and forever be a place my Grandma shopped for clothes, no matter how they try to "pretty it up".

Their plus size selection is pathetically embarrassing and if they are trying to target a younger crowd, Hollister, American Eagle, Forever 21 and Aero have that market cornered (at least at our mall).

According to this Yahoo Finance editorial, we may not have to be concerned about it for too much longer.

JC Penney Enters the Death Throes Phase.

I don't usually shop at JCP, but I was in there last week because my great grandson had photos taken there and we were picking them up. I did do some shopping while I was there. I bought three Carter blanket sleepers for $11.00 each. I later found the same exact ones at Costco and Sams Club for $7.98 each.

On another recent trip, my daughter wanted to buy some athletic shoes that were in the clearance area. She tried to pay for them at the shoe department. Nobody there. She then tried to pay for them at the main checkout desk. Nobody there either. She finally put them down and walked out of the store in frustration. No wonder they are having problems!

JCP is totally going down the crapper. There is no saving JCP at this point. All they have done over the last 2 years or so is prolong the inevitable.

I used the $10 of $10 coupon last week...first time I've been in there in over 4 years. It was hard for me to even find something I liked to use my coupon on. I walked out of there (I did decide to spend $10 out of pocket) with a mercury glass Christmas tree and a sparkly giant snowball ornament to decorate the house.

I have found really good deal there, on the clearance racks. I found lots of summer clothes for great prices this fall. I still like penny's but paying rack rate for clothes is a hard concept. i do like some of the new lines they have brought in as well.

I am fortunate enough to have a huge JCP outlet store really, really close to my home. It is adjacent to what used to be one of their largest distribution centers that is now closed and vacant.
Several times a year they send out 25% off everything in the store coupons & that is when I go. I buy a lot of socks and underwear for the grandkids, lol. I missed the big children's coat sale this year but I did get some really nice bath towels for 2.99 each! I actually bought them @ 3.99 each but the very next week they were 2.99 so I just exchanged them, lol. Got a lot of girls bathing suits for 1.99 a few weeks ago for next season.
My dd is taking her two kids tomorrow for the free kids haircuts they are offering Sundays in November. Well to the regular JCP not the outlet, lol.

I was just looking at the ad , and to me the quality of the clothes are not good. It shows. I don't think they will last.

JCP use to have decent deals and their coupons made it a better deal, but these days when I do go to Penney's it's for the clearance rack. I'm not too keen in their new strategy with coffee bars and Pilate mat stations scattered throughout the store. Why not return to a clean store with decent selection and coupons yo make buyers happy?

I think I'm the only one that loves JCP more now than before!
I love all the new lines they're carrying. I feel like its much less of a store my grandma would shop in full of mom jeans but yet trendy for those of us that are too old to shop at Hollister or American Eagle.
Yes, while its true they no longer off "coupons" or "sales" --- they've priced their items at the price I paid for those things at the "sale" price but now I can buy them when I want or not just during early bird hours or whatever the scheme was at that time.
I am really enjoying the new direction JCP is going. I can't wait to see all the changes continue to unfold. There are a million like minded, in the box dept stores (Kohls, Sears, Dillard's) and I'm excited to see a store breaking the mold. It's fun. It's new. It's different.
And I think that's the main part. People are taken aback by change some.

But point of the post is I save the same as I always have at JCP but now I can do it when I want and not when the sale flyer and hours say so.

Well I at least understand the reasoning behind the JcPenney attempted overhaul. They decided that the bargain hunting shoppers aren't all that profitable. Okay - so they quit offering bargains and set their prices at some standard amount and now they are trying to attract a different crowd of shoppers. They seem to want some sort of trendy, less price conscious shopper who views shopping itself as entertainment with coffee and ice cream bars and Pilates! right there in the shopping aisles.

But it seems to me in order to make this work you have to convince your new market crowd that JcPenney is now this trendy, fun, destination type of place. Somehow they are going to have to get rid of the image that the JcPenney store is where your Mom and Grandma go to buy their curtains and sweaters and replace it with the belief that the hip and trendy crowd goes there for the experience as much as the merchandise.

I just don't buy into it but I'm obviously not part of their new desired demographics. I view the concept of stopping for a Pilates and ice cream break while shopping for new bras and panties to be about the equal of a voluntary root canal on the chart of fun.

And from the reflection of their recent revenue numbers --- all the old bargain shopper crowd has left in droves and they haven't yet managed to bring in their new desired demographics.

Maybe they just need to hang up huge photographs of a bunch of nearly naked teenagers and dim the light like Abercrombie or something.

I don't think they will ever be able to convince people it's a store for young, hip and trendy people.

They'll be out of business before that happens.

Seems to me that they were never a quality item type of store. Honestly, I at least like what I see in the ads that have been coming out. I've not shopped there in many, many years, but have like quite a few things in the ads lately and I will be stopping by soon. Wish me luck!
