How do you recover after a bad flight?

I pray and it does help. Not sure if you’re in to that. I hate to fly but I refuse to be someone who doesn’t fly, so I tell myself I’ll get through it. With lots of prayer, I do. I don’t medicate because I have kids and want to be fully with it in the event of an emergency (not just flight related, could be anything).

Ive been in a few flights that sound like what you experienced. It is terrifying. But you get on the plane again. I want to see the world More than I want to be afraid.

You can have a hard time with it, but it happened. It looked just like in the movies when the plane is going down. It was terrible. I knew something was up when there were NO announcements and no flight attendants were up even though we were at cruising altitude. I think the pilots must have been surprised by the intensity of the turbulence, I don't know.
So you can believe it or not but I hope you don't have to ever have that happen on your flights.
Also as I said in another post, it was 43 years ago and technology is much, much more advanced now. So there is that.
I do understand it may have felt like that, but that’s not the way turbulence works.
That said, if there was some sort of major upset, than the pilot may push the nose over to avoid or recover from a stall. We actually practice that in the sim thanks to the Air France crash. That maneuver is not caused by atmospheric turbulence, however. At least not in all my years of flying and training.
Again, sitting in the back it can seem totally different. I’m not oblivious to that.
Good luck.

Indeed. I fly for the airlines, that’s why I asked.
But there is still no rapid deceleration with turbulence.
I’m a bit confused by your simulation example.
I think you mean they simulate slowing by slightly putting the nose down.
That said, turbulence will not really slow the airplane down to that extent. It will be a rough ride, but not to the extent you are referring.

I think you've forgotten what it can feel like when you don't have the knowledge you have. Easy to do.
