How do you pronounce the word E-G-G?

there's long a in the beginning of my egg

I say ehg. My mom says aig. Now wouldn't you think I'd have learned to speak from her? :confused3

But she also doesn't know when to stop when she says cinnamon, aluminum and feminine, and adds extra syllables....... cinnamonamonamon:lmao:

Eh Gg (I guess)
Isn't there only one way to say it? :confused3
That's what I thought, too. :)

When I pronounce egg, it rhymes with leg.
But how do you pronounce leg? ;)

The story is that my college daughter's boyfriend was over for dinner. After dinner the three of us were talking and being silly and Chris, the boyfriend, mentioned that people make fun of him because of the way he pronounces "egg". When he said egg I was :rotfl: . Just couldn't help myself. ;) We say "ehg" and of course he says "aig". I'd honestly never heard it pronounced the other way, but he will be glad to know that lots of other people do, even though he says that his way is the only right way. :rotfl: BTW, he says pronounces "leg" with a long A sound, too.

BTW, the discussion was all in fun, with us all laughing so hard. I did look the word up on dictionary.com and they just gave the ehg pronunciation.

When I was a kid I used to have problems saying cinnamon and aluminum. I've since learned how to say them, though. ;)

I say ehg.

I've heard that they're changing, or rather adding) different pronunciations and spellings in dictionaries because so many people say or spell words wrong. Wrong is wrong in my book. I don't think these things should be changed just because alot of people say or spell things wrong.......:sad2:

Tigger&Belle - where is the boyfriend from? I say egg and leg the same way as he does. Is this a regional thing?

Dictionary.com is run by communists.
That explains it! :rotfl:

He's from here in Maryland (DC burbs), but his mother isn't. I forgot where she's from.

I do too, so it's either a regional thing or maybe it's the way people who are really smart and good looking say it?

I say ayg too... and layg.

But I do pronounce Meg, Craig, peg, keg, etc. with the ehg.

Also from Maryland and honestly it doesn't sound all that different to me.

Ehg vs ayg - the difference is so slight

I think we lean toward ayg and layg. My niece is Megan and it seems we all call her Maygan.
