How do you Pronounce the word AMISH?

I've only heard it Ah-mish as well (from both in and out of the community)

Reminds me I should check on my Amish Friendship Bread I've got going....

As you know we pronounce many words in a different way to Americans anyway. I think the last time I heard the word was when there was a shooting at an Amish school. I don't recall ever hearing the word mentioned here before.

Anyway, Ahh-mish it is!

When I saw the post title, I thought I'd come on and tell about my neighbor who pronounced it AIM-ish

The Amish community I used to live near also called it ah-mish.

Yup Ahh-mish. Very interesting area around Lancaster, Penn, went there in 1992 and I am sure the local store there was in the film Witness.

At Grandma Yoder's restaurant in Bradenton they pronounce it Ah-mish but I don't as it's rude to speak with your mouth full.
