Lori
and
Laurie
Different or same?
and
Laurie
Different or same?
Is there something you are not telling us?
No. It's just something I've thought about recently. My sister is Laurie and we've always said Lor-ee. So said Laurie and Lori the same.
But down here it's Lau-ree. Just wondering what other people say!![]()
I know several of each - and the ones I know all pronouce them differently.
Lori = LOHR-ee - rhymes with story
Laurie = LAHR-ee - rhymes with sorry
Now that's not to say that the Laurie you're asking about doesn't pronounce it as LOHR-ee...or even better - Lahr -AY!!!![]()
See, I would say that story and sorry rhyme, unless you pronounce "sorry" like SAH-ree, which I've never heard. I would say Lori and Laurie are pronounced the same.
Are you from the North? I saw sah-ree for sorry and I'm from GA. But my parents are from NY and I think that's why my sister is Lor-ee instead of Lau-ree. It's got that oah sound to it that yankees like so much.![]()
My name is Laurie, and I hate being called Lori.
Lah-rie, not Lore-ee, thank you
Nothing's wrong with the name Lori, but it's not my name, any more than Lauren is, or Jane or Sue for that matter - lol.
(and now I am totally confused how "sorry" and "story" can rhyme. They sound nothing at all alike to me...)
