How do you pick?

I decide which resort to book by the amount of money in my pocket:rotfl::rotfl: If hubby and two sons decide to go with me there is no way that we can fit in a value resort anymore:( so I have to shell out extra money for a moderate that has queen size beds or perhaps a deluxe.

Budget is the biggest thing...then I try to pick a theme that appeals to me. I have my bucket list of places I REALLY want to stay...but I honestly would like to stay at all the resorts at some point.

We went to CBR on our honeymoon and then on our 5 year anniversary trip. We really like it. Values don't interest us and we decided to stick with what we like. So the last three visits have been CBR with the kids and we are planning to stay there next year too. :)

Nothing wrong with trying new places but we like to stick with what we like! I say look at your budget and decide how much you want to spend. Then look at the resorts that meet that amount and pick by theme or location.

1) Price
2) Pool

Now we just stay Swan/Dolphin on points we earned with our Starwood American Express Card. Don't get no better than free and the pool is amazing.

For our first stay we stayed at CSR because of the wonderful theming and great pool. We weren't disappointed but we found that we spent very little time at the resort.

For our upcoming trip we are staying at CR for convenience to MK and because we want three beds so oldest DS can have his own bed. Because of the age of my kids, I need a resort with at least two queens (mod or better) and preferably convenient to a park. I'd my kids were younger, I would probably go value. It is all about what you're looking for.

#1 - Budget. Value, Moderate, Deluxe or a split stay.
#2 - Negotiate with the DH. That is why we have done a split stay so many time is because we can't pick just one so we pick two. Really this all boils down to theme.

Have fun!

We have always picked our resort based on budget. We have had discount codes for all of our stays. A discount was the only way we were staying at the Poly. Then we choose whatever resort in the category we have chosen by whichever most appeals to us. Although I will admit to changing resorts, sometimes multiple times for each booking except for our upcoming vacation. There are just so many choices!

We chose Pop for our last trip based almost exclusively on budget (oldest daughter was a senior in high school so college expenses were looming and we did not know at the time which college she would be attending) and a little bit on theming (our daughters thought it looked fun). For our upcoming trip, we had a specific budget that we did not want to go over but we chose a Royal Room at POR mainly for theming of the room and the mansions section of POR.

I first see how much I want to spend and how long Im going. I really want to stay at every resort at least once so I typically try to pick a new resort. I have enjoyed every different resort Ive stayed at thus far with this method.
