Hello,
As a new DVC member, I'm curious to know how you experts pay your MF's. Any tips for receiving credit card rewards, frequent flyer points, etc?
Thanks!

We have ours auto deducted every month. It's just easier to have it done that way instead of paying one big lump sum at the beginning of the year when we rarely have that much for a lump sum.

We also have ours auto deducted from our checking account.

I did try to pay it monthly with Disney Visa but that was a no-go.

You can pay your dues with the Disney Visa in a lump sum to get the rewards. Then you can use your rewards $ to pay towards your dues next year. :)

Can you use the rewards to go towards the dues? I did not know that.

I'm a lump sum kinda girl. And yes, I use my disney rewards towards my MFs. I don't usually have many rewards because I've usually used them all when we go in October.

I pay my dues annually with credit card and like others have said, use rewards to pay toward dues the following year. :cool1:

We pay in a lump sum in January using our Disney Visa. We save our Dream Dollar points for use in the parks.

We're new to DVC, but we're planning to pay with our Disney Visa in a lump sum. But we're setting aside the dues monthly in a joint savings account so it's like we're paying it monthly.

Monthly from checking.

At some point I'll get ourselves a year ahead like that (I did it for car and renter's insurance, I can do it again!). Until then, no, because it just falls in an awkward time of year to have hundreds of dollars charged.

off to start pulling money out to get us ahead!

Same here. Every year I have about $500 in rewards - apply that and pay the balance with cc again to start accumulating for next year again.

Here's how I do it...

I have $40 deducted automatically from every paycheck (bi-weekly) and deposited into an online bank account. This account is ONLY for my DVC dues and I never even look at it except once a year, when the statement comes out. This way, I am still paying my dues monthly, but I am paying myself::yes::.

When I figure out how much I will owe, I go to Target and use my Target REDCard to buy $50 gift cards to cover the dues. By using my Target card, I save 5% on the gift cards and therefore, 5% on my dues:cool1:. I have to call MS to pay and it can take a while to read off the numbers of 16-17 gift cards, but it is worth it to save $30-$40.

Then, when the Target bill comes, I take the money out of the online account and pay it off.

Pay lump sum with Disney Visa, forms the basis for the " WDW food fund".

Though the one year we had a lot so, I used some of the Disney rewards to pay for youngest DS's AP.

Thanks for your responses! Does anyone pay MF's using their Southwest card to obtain points for free flights? We typically fly from KC to MCO via Swest. Although we don't have their cc yet, I was thinking of obtaining one.
