How do you pack your shoes?

I read on another thread that some people bring as many as 5 pairs of shoes. I wish I could do that. On our last trip I was only able to fit 2 pairs in my suitcase plus the ones I wore. Just wondering if anyone has good tips on packing more pairs of shoes? How do you get them to fit in the suitcase??:confused3 How many pairs do you usually bring?

I'm planning on wearing my trainers on the flight (biggest shoes taken care of). In my case will be one pair of flat sandals, which can slot down the sides; one pair of pumps and another pair of sandals that are a cross between sandals and trainers.

When it comes to packing I place each shoe inside a carrier bag, and stuff the shoe with underwear and socks. Then I place the shoes around the inside of the case with the soles against the edges of the case. (If that makes sense!). COming home, they just get thrown in any old how!

That's exactly what I do! I usually pack 2-3 pairs per person and there are four of us. This works like a charm!

I usually place my shoes along the outter edge of the suitcase. Don't forget to use the space inside the shoes for packing things. I stuff socks in them and other odds and ends that will fit. Keeps the shoe from getting smashed and it is a good use of space.

We each wear one pair of tennis shoes and pack our backup pairs all in one duffle bag. As far as flip flops go, we each pack our own in a plastic bag along the edge of the suitcase. We use the plastic bag on the way home for anything that has gotten wet. Have a great trip!

I have a shoe rotation I use at the world. Helps keep down blisters and sore feet, I have found. I wear my crocs with low socks to the airport. Makes it easiest when taking off shoes for the security line. (socks can come off once on the plane)

My Keen newport h2s, Teva Dozers, Teva toachi's, mush flip flops, and nike sneakers go in the suitcase along the edges. I will be tossing these in the extra suitcase I bring along with all of our park supplies(glow sticks, ponchos, first aid supplies, hats etc) and toiletries. We fly southwest so its still 2 checked bags for free. I also have this bag for souvies on the way home.

Definitely stuff your shoes with soft stuff like underwear and socks. Saves lots of room!

I always bring 3 or 4 pairs total. Remember, you can always wash your clothes (so you can pack fewer shorts, shirts, etc.) but you may really regret it if the shoes you plan to wear every day don't end up being comfortable! To me, I'd rather bring more shoes and less "other" clothing, just to be safe.

[Two trips ago, I planned to use my regular workout shoes at WDW, thinking they were well broken in. They were NOT! I eneded up with a blister my first day, and was so glad I'd brought other shoes.]

I bring 3 pairs.
Fancy sandals for dress-up dinners, I wear these on the plane because I like to take my shoes off : )
Trainers/runners for extra support at the end of our week when feet are getting sore. Crocs for beginning of the week. I pack the trainers and crocs and remember lots of ankle socks and Mitcham's powder.
I pack my 2 extra pair in in luggage at the outside edges as already mentioned by others.

Mail your extra shoes and clothing or anything else to your resort ahead of your stay. Don't forget to print a return address slip for sending box back home. You can also send an empty box to your resort for souvenirs. Hope this helps.

Easy I only wear flip-flops. One pair for the plane, one pair in the outer pocket of the suitcase. When I go down in the winter--I wear sneakers on the plane and I pack a second pair as well as the flip-flops in the suitcase.

Granted I have a reconstructed ankle and a Women's size 11 1/2 foot. My shoe wardrobe is limited. :rotfl2:

Yup we two do the sole to the outer edge bit as well as the stuffing with socks etc. It also works well if you put bottles into them. We do this for things like perfume or shampoo saves them getting squashed or broken and like wise all my christmas tree decorations were stuffed into DH shoes. Just make sure that you wrap any bottles in a plastic bag just in case.

For us the big problem with shoes is adding weight to the suitcases and staying under 50 pounds.

There are 4 of us on Delta (Me, DD, Mom, Dad). We are each taking 1 suitcase ($15 charge) then doing a 5th suitcase for all 4 of us. The extra suitcase is $25, I'll pay the way down and Mom will pay the way back. We will use it for shoes, ponchos, coats, etc.....

Another thing we did to keep the weight down on suitcases and add cubic inches is we switched to LL Bean large rolling duffels. My old Samsonite weighed 20 pounds, my rolling duffel is 9. I bought some packing cubes by Eagle Creek (which can get a little pricey) to keep things organized in the duffel. Now I use 'homemade' packing cubes.... I save the bags that new sheets and blankets come in that zipper along the top. Since everything is in a packing cube/bag then I can line the bottom of the duffel with shoes. Then I have big drawstring laundry bags from WalMart that fold into a pouch. All the dirty clothes goes into one and on the way home a full laundry bag fits exactly into the large duffel which goes straight to the laundry room.

I have another trick to keep the weight down in a suitcase. I bring a Maclaren stroller and put it in a JL Childress Padded Umbrella Strolller bag (from Buy Buy Baby). The stroller bag is very roomy and perfect to put some shoes in the bottom! I also used to have a car seat bag that I would gate check when DD was younger. That also fit some items like shoes on top of the seat.

I pack 5 or 6 pairs of Teva mush for me, and they are so light weight and flat that I can just layer them in the outside pockets of my luggage. DH wear NB tennis shoes, one pair on the plane and one in the luggage........so the shampoo gets stuffed in his shoes!!!

Wear your biggest, clunkiest shoes on the plane (usually sneakers take up the most room in a suitcase, so wear those).

With the rest, stuff as much as you can inside the shoes (things like socks and underwear stuff into shoes really well - you can really cram a lot of stuff in there!).

I'd rather bring fewer clothes (knowing I can always wash clothes or do a load of laundry) than worry about having the right shoes with me. I bring three or four pairs, different kinds (flip flops, sneakers, I even tried Crocs one trip). Believe me, shoes that feel comfortable at home may not feel so great when you're walking 8+ miles per day at WDW. A couple of years back, I planned to wear my regular workout shoes as my main shoes at WDW. Well, these shoes (that I thought were very well broken in!) gave me a big blister on the bottom of my little toe the first day of my trip. Thank goodness I brought some really comfy flip flops - I ended up wearing them the rest of the six days of my trip.

I pack mine last on top with soles up. That is what I was told to do by a TSA agent. Even for a quick check they have to check your shoes so if they are on top they don't disturb they reat of my suitcase too much.
