How do you pack water bottles?

I have read that some people pack bottled water, but I would be worried the bottle would break open. Do you put them in another container?

Do you mean in a checked bag or a bag for the parks? I think I have brought 2 or 3 back in a suitcase once but it is really not a good idea.

In a park bag it is more sweating that causes problems than leakage.

To me, it's not worth the savings. Sure, you could fit a few in Ziploc bags but then worry that your clothes might arrive wet. Is the risk really worth a savings of $10 or so? If you really drink a lot of water that you'd want a whole case I'd look into Amazon.com and just having it shipped to the resort.
If you're driving or renting a car from MCO, I'd just stop at a Publix or Walmart and pick some up on the way.
I do pack the leftover bottles when we're going home but by then I really don't care if my clothes get wet. It's usually only 1-2 bottles so it's not enough to get other bags wet. Our own clothes would soak it up.

I usually pick up a case of water once we are there. Or if we don't have a car, I put in an order with Garden Grocers to be delivered the day we arrive and it includes a case of water. I have to have water by my bedside, and I don't like Florida water. Also we tend to eat breakfast in the room most days and like to take our own snacks into the parks.

Last year we had a case of water delivered by Staples. Worked great! It was only $5.99 for a case of 24 bottles and free shipping (as long as you have reward card--also free). Just ordered it a few days before arrival and it was waiting for us when we got there.

We either bring cases with us if we drive or place an order and have them delivered to the resort OR use a grocery delivery store.

We each buy a bottle inside the parks and refill them.

We're going to bring our empty reusable bottles and just get ice water at the parks when we need, pour it in and go.

There's really no need to buy disposable bottles of water...it's so wasteful and expensive.

A lot of folks don't like the taste of Florida water (myself included) so you can buy one of the Brita water bottles that have a filter in them and refill your bottle as needed at your resort, water fountain, or at counter service locations where you can ask for a free cup of water. If you don't want to carry a bottle around, all counter service locations will give you a free cup of ice water if you ask, and there are also water fountains located throughout the parks.

If you're really set on having individual bottles of water, many of the resort gift shops sell cases of water for about $6.50 (approximately) so there's no need to go through Amazon, Staples, etc to ship water to your resort.

Thank you for saying this. I really wish water bottles would cease to exist. Somehow we survived for centuries without them. We love our hydro flasks and take them every where. We get free filtered water in the parks and they stay cold for 24 hours. Disposable bottles stay cold for about 10 minutes. I never understood the appeal.

I suppose my thread title was misinterpreted as "please tell me your thoughts on bottled waters and how they destroy our plant". Sorry for not being clear.

I am going to be there half the time in August alone with my dd. I have to carry my things and most of hers and quite frankly do not feel like adding water bottles to my already large camel pack. Thanks for the suggestion and your judgement. I use a reusable water bottle every day at home. I am not interested in bringing one with me. I apologize to the planet for the three days we will be using them.

No judgement here!! We usually put a bottle or two in the fridge the night before, and refill them at the parks. We don't pack a bottle for each person. Too heavy!! We share between us. There are plenty of water fountains or free ice water to refill them as often as we need. Enjoy your trip!!

I guess I don't understand how toting around a disposable water bottle is any less cumbersome than carrying around a reusable one. Anyway, as I said, you can buy cases of water at the resort gift shops and just carry one into the park each morning if you want...or if the issue is how to not carry any water bottles around with you just ask for free cups of ice water throughout the day. There are also reusable water bottles that expand with water in them but collapse flat like a bladder (think like a Ziplock) when they're empty so that may be an option for you if you're concerned about saving space in your backpack.
