I have Picasa, and it's driving me insane. It may just be user error, but I have a heck of a time organizing my photos they way I want to, and it will not locate all the photos I have on my hard drive.

I know there has to be an easier way to organize my photos until I print them. Would anyone be willing to share what programs they use to organize and then print their photos?

I'd really appreciate it!:thumbsup2

I use the CM Memory Manager - really sets my photos up in an organized way. I can use the photo in the separate file i uploaded it with, or it allows me to place the picture in whatever files that person, or object or thing is also a subject in. For me, it works great!

I was under the impression that if you used the CM software, that you had to have them print your photos, and not use another source like Snapfish. Is that not the case?

Thank you for your help!

I don't use a program- I just have them all divided into folders in windows- when I upload photos I put them into a category and then a subfolder:

so I have:
Family- under it is individual people or events (Christmas 2008, Elizabeth, ect)
Disney- I have 1 folder for eahc trip and a general pictures file for each area
Church- Baptism, Services, Events

Anyway like I said I don't use a program just folders on my computer- then I keep them as thumbnails so I can see the pictures without opening them.

I don't use a program either, they are all in file folders on the computer. good luck!

I use Picasa, but not for organization; mainly I use it to send pictures to friends and family by e-mail and print pictures at home.

Like others, I use a folder system. I have it broken down by year, then by event. For example:
> 2009
- Jen Birthday
- Marci Baby Shower 011709
- State Fair 020709
and so on . . .

I use Photoshop to tag and categorize my photos, but they are stored in folders by topic in Windows. Photoshop is really handy for finding certain pictures without having to look through all the folders. Like if I want to see all the photos I have of me, DH and DS together, I just click on each of our tags and it'll show me only those photos. Or, if I want to see all our Christmas photos, not just a specific year, I can click on the Christmas category and all my Christmas photos come up. My tags have them categorized by year so I could click on the year I was looking for if I wanted just those pictures.

When I upload to print photos, I just upload them to whereever I'm printing them (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) from my Windows folders.

Thanks Doreen! I'll have to check that site out as soon as I can.

Really appreciate everyone's help - thank you so much!

I organize my pictures by date on my hard drive...first by year, then by month. If there is a special occassion with tons of pictures, I give that it's own subfolder within whatever month it is. That way, it's easier to find. At the end of every year, I burn them to a DVD.

But we recently bought a huge external hard drive, so I was thinking about keeping all my pictures on there from now on instead of the DVDs...can't decide, I know DVDs deteriorate over time...

I just have ours loaded into folders on the computer. They are organized by date. It really helps with pictures of DS and his various accomplishments. It helps me remember the date that things happened.

Then we move them onto CDs and keep them in a fire safe box.

You can print however you wan t if you use Memory Manger.

I had MS DIgital Image LIbrary first adn have really liked that. Can do a bit mor organizing wiht memory manager, though.
