One thing we love doing in WDW is travel the monorail to the different MK resorts to shop, dine, explore, etc...

With the rumors of the monorail closing during certain time frames throughout March, I was just wondering how else do you get to the different MK resorts from one another? Is there a walking trail?

you can walk between the Polyn and GF - but would not suggest walking from CR.

you can go to the MK and take the boats to both Polyn and GF - or walk over to the CR.

We always have a rental car, but outside of that, what minniebride said. Use boats

Plus there should be buses running - I know the monorail resorts have some shared buses anyway, and they would probably put one on for transportation between them if the monorail was down.

You cannot currently walk between the Poly & the GF - last I heard the footpath is closed due to the DVC construction work going on. Which is also the same reason the monorail is down for a while.

The only way to reach the CR (from the other resorts) is via the main road the buses take - I agree, don't try it! There is not even a footpath.

From MK boat to GF/Poly stops at GF first. Tour GF then get back on the boat and it will go to Poly. Tour Poly then take that boat back to MK where you can walk to CR or from Poly walk over to TTC and take the big ferry over to MK.

Great suggestion!!! :thumbsup2. Just planning in case the monorail shuts down again in July! :)

I know the Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower and Polynesian always share Buses to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom/Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney Typhoon Lagoon. So anyone staying at the Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower can take one of those Buses, get off at the Polynesian and then use the walkway to the Grand Floridian.

Boats.

One resort launch will get you between the GF and Poly. The Contemporary is going to be a little trickier to pull off. But I do have one idea if you don't mind doing a little walking.

Walk from the Poly to the TTC, take the Magic Kingdom boat launch to MK. Then you can walk to the Contemporary A-frame in about 5 minutes.

And that actually opens up another possibility. You can take the boat launch from MK to the Wilderness Lodge and shop there too. :yay:

How does the WL fit into this? If we ferry hop from MK-GF-Poly do we go back to MK and take a separate ferry to WL?

yep that is exacly what you do - the launch is right next to the one for GF and Poly

We actually prefer to take the boats when we tour the monorail resorts because we find those boat rides more pleasant and the views of the other resorts, lake and MK are very pretty.

Dd and I usually do this once each trip. Its a nice break from the parks and she loves to shop at each of the gift shops on the monorail!
