How do you make your ressies?

Soon I will need to make ressies at the BWV, two bedroom unit, for December. I have never been to DW in December and I am very excited to see all the decorations. I am hoping to get a Boardwalk view, do I need to call day by day or can I wait until our checkout date to call? Thanks.

If I really care about the view and it is a busy time I make day by day ressies. We like the SV at BWV,not just for the point savings but we like the more quiet SV side. I think December is a popular time so I would do day by day.

Today I booked BWV Boardwalk view for Dec 1-4. I plan to go until Dec 9. I booked the first three nights and was told to call every morning to add another night to the existing reservation. As a matter of fact, her exact words were "call first thing in the morning to add another night until you are done." I asked if I could just wait until the 9th and she said "I wouldn't." I am going to take her word for it and call every morning. :D Good Luck!

If you want a Boardwalk view, you absolutely need to call each day if you do not want to use the waitlist.

My advice is to call as soon as MS opens at 9 am Eastern. I always call day by day for either standard view or Boardwalk view when I am visiting between the middle of November and January 1. You do not have to call day by day if you are OK with a Preferred - Pool/Garden view.

It only takes a few minutes each day to reserve this way and it saves me a considerable amount of stress worrying about availability and waitlist prospects.

Call day by day for your December Boardwalk view. You will be glad you did!

NMW, I tried to book for the 4th today and I was told that I could only book until the 3rd with a check out date of the 4th? Did you actually get the room booked for the 4th?

NMW, I reread your post and saw that you did only book for the first three nights with a check out on the 4th, sorry!

I would call day by day. I just finished Nov 26 to Dec 2 this morning, boardwalk view. Most of the days it was pretty easy, I got through quick. This morning was a little harder, but not bad, I was done by 9:10.

Okay, I am very new to DVC...we just bought at Thanksgiving and I will be making ressies for our first trip home (SSRS) for 12/17 to 12/24...I know this is a very busy time and that I'm suppose to call on the 11 months from the date of check-out, but what is the "day by day" you all are talking about? Do you mean for me that would be call on 1/18 get the night of 12/17, call the next day to add-on 12/18, call the next day to add-on 12/19, etc???

Can you give me more hints? I mean how can I get that 1 bedroom at SSRS with hte least hassle? I'm having a minor panic moment...sorry! It will be the first time we've gone during Christmas and I want it to be perfectly magical...before I read this thread I had just gotten over the "It's so crowded the week before Christmas" and was all psyched that I can do this ressie...the first without at TA doing all the work. So, any more explaination of the "day by day" idea or any other hints would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes, you would call on the 18th to start your ressie and call every morning to add days. Tell MS what your plan is. MS will give you a confirmation number but won't print the letter until you finish booking. You would call on Monday the 24th to book the 21st to 23rd.

Please don't panic! There's no need. The day by day thing is really only required at the 11 month window for standard view or Boardwalk view at the BWV (limited number of rooms in these categories) and for the VWL (smaller resort & very popular during the holiday season).

Since you are an SSR owner, you can almost surely get away with one call for this time. However, since it is your first trip and you are going during Christmas week, go ahead and call each day - it can't hurt. You have the process down. Just don't want you to panic if you get a busy signal when yu call MS in the early morning or have to wait on hold. Be persistent or call in the early afternoon after the initial crush of BWV & VWL owners get done. You will be fine. Don't worry!

As Carol rightly pointed out, there's no need to panic. You indicated that you want the trip to be perfectly magical, and we're just providing tips on how to have the best chance of success.

When you call to reserve the first night, just let MS know how long you will want to be staying and take care of any requests, etc at that time. The subsequent daily calls will last less than a minute each after you reach MS.

There's no reason to panic, but some additional effort will help to ensure the best chance of that magical experience you are seeking.

And since you said you joined so recently, let me also say "WELCOME HOME!". :D

Thank you all! I will give it a go with the day by day...see what MS says that first day. I feel comfortable with knowing what you all have said...I am a firm believer in that knowledge is power and it can make things run more smoothly!

I will let you know how it goes for my first ressie home!

And Granny, thanks for the welcome! When I saw the screen name I was instantly comforted...my mom's mom was my granny and she could sooth away anything. I do have to ask though...how did you get that screen name for a man?
