I'm going to make some now, from my old secret recipe - but I'll share. ;)

Store brand complete. Add water, mix and pour. ;) :teeth:

Anyone here, do it the old-fashioned way? Does it really taste better? :)

Open freezer door. Take out 3 frozen Pillsbury pancakes. Put on plate. Microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds. Serve to children. I don't care for pancakes but the kids love these so I don't bother with doing it any other way.

I wake Vince up and ask real nice. :goodvibes

Patti, my recipe is similar to yours. Hungry Jack, add water, eggs, oil, mix and cook.

My dad (age 84) just came home from the hospital on Friday. First thing Saturday morning I hear him saying from his bedroom "I want pancakes."

That's easy - just go get that mix that you just add water to right? No, we were out of it. So I had to do it the old fashioned way.

The mix is just as good if not better.

One word......IHOP!!!!!!! :teeth:

Yes and yes!

And, if you're going to use Hungry Jack or Bisquick, you might as well make them from scratch since the amount of effort is about the same (and you eliminate some of the preservatives/mystery ingredients)!

Here's the basic recipe -- double, triple, etc., according to how many people you want to feed:

1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 T baking powder
1 cup flour
2 T vegetable oil
1 T sugar
dash of salt

I just whisk the egg, throw in the milk and oil, then add the dry ingredients and whisk. I don't sift flour, mix dry ingredients separately or anything like that.

If there are any leftover, I then have themepark's type of pancakes.

As I sit here eating my "add water & mix" pancakes, I'm printing this recipe so I can try it next time. I just want to see if I can tell the difference. It will be my rainy Sunday morning project for one day this fall. :)

We use a similar secret recipe! Just add water, stir and you are good to go.

On a related note - my 11 YO DD was recently at my parents house for a few days. DD asked me on the way home - doesn't grandma make anything from a box? The answer - very very rarely...

Patti - try the Aldi's pancake mix - soooooooooo good. Pancakes are fluffy & light. My family loves them.

I'll have to do that. Right now I'm eating Tops brand - but I'm open to all store brand mixes. :)

I love Bisquick pancakes! I add sugar and vanilla to mine though. Actually, I think they started adding that to their "light & fluffy" recipe on the box. But, I was doing it before them. :teeth:

Sheesh woman, don't you ever cook? Send Vince to my house.

I use Mrs. Butterworth's buttermilk pancake mix. Sometimes I add chocolate chips. Mmmm

All I use is flour, sugar, milk and water. My whole family and especially DH Loves my pancakes. He says they are so light and fluffy.I dont know how much of each I use I just throw it all together.I used to put eggs in it and forgot to put it in one time and DH said he liked it better without it.

Beth,
DH does the same except every once in a blue moon he'll also add cinnamon and butter flavoring. We also have 2 griddles, one for PANCAKES ONLY and one for everything else. He claims that once you cook anything else on it it's ruined for pancakes.

LOL, me too. I alter the ingredients just a touch and they are so good.
