Not sure if this is in the right place or not but so many here have used the wonderful disigns to make up autograph books! So please explain (I'm not nearly as crafty as I wish I were) how you actually make up the autograph book. I think my girls would love to collect autographs of the characters and think it's a wonderful way to keep them organized and "special"!

I printed mine out on 4x6 blank index cards and left a white border around the images. Here is a pic:

Then I got a photo album and slid all of the cards in their own pocket. I would definitely suggest organizing them by alphabet so that you can easily find the character's card as you see them.

I made about 248 character cards and had a 250 card photo album that I carried around. Luckily I have a two year old and could throw it in the bottom of the stroller...otherwise, it could get a little heavy in a backpack if you are carrying a bunch of other things around. I was at WDW for three days in December (when school was not out) and got 48 signatures. We were there first thing in the morning when the parks were open and generally left around 2:00 in the afternoon for my 2 year old. The lines were relatively small for autographs because school wasn't out yet, which I think is why we were able to get so many autographs. We didn't go out of our way to get them. We just got them as we were on our way to rides or shows if we happened to see a character and the line wasn't too long.

You could just print cards for your favorite characters that you want to meet and then generic cards for other characters that you happen to see. It is up to you.

Other people leave either an extra large white border along the top or left hand side of the autograph card and then take all of the cards to "Kinkos" or a similar store and have them spiral bound. I like mine in photo albums so that I can pull out the signed cards and then use them in scrapbooks. It is up to you!

Here are some links to my favorite autograph cards:

The above links require a good bit of ink...but are sooo worth it! Some people save the images to their "my pictures" and then copy them at Wal-Mart or wherever you get your photographs developed. If you do this, I would suggest printing them on matte photo paper. The only ones that you will have a problem with are the few characters that use stamps for their autographs. If you get theirs...make sure they are completely dry before you touch them or put them back in the autograph book.

If you are looking for some great autograph cards that require less ink...look in Natalie's file:

Hope this helps!

Here is another example I found:

My problem is I love the scrapbook idea, and I'll probably make dd a book like that for herself, but I also want autographs that I can put into my own scrapbook album that I'll make after the trip. I want something cute, but not something to busy or with odd colors as I will eventually want them to coordinate with whatever scrapbook layouts I make.

Look in Natalie's file...her autograph cards have less ink and simple borders and might be more what you are wanting for your scrapbooks:

They are in the 2008 Autograph Book File. You can click on the "preview" tab to see what they look like. Or maybe...if you have time you can design your own to fit perfectly with your scrapbook.

Thanks:) I actually already have all of Natalie's things saved -- she does fantastic work. In thinking about it, I'm sure if I have Cinderella's autograph, for example, I'll do a page in my scrapbook with blues and whites that would coordinate with Cinderalla and the castle. So I guess having premade cards might work out OK.

Is Picabo your real name? If so, I just had to ask...you aren't the alpine ski racer are you? :)

THANKS for all the links to threads! I see I have my homework cut out for me doing research! :rotfl:

VERY helpful! Thanks! I don't think I'll print out nearly as many as you - hats off to you for being so detailed!!! When you print on the index cards, is there any problem in them feeling through the printer ok?

Is Picabo your real name? If so, I just had to ask...you aren't the alpine ski racer are you? :)

No - Picabo is my dog's name! Although she is named after Picabo Street. I got her in 1997 and Picabo Street was in the height of her career, the Olympics, etc. Found out the name meant "streaming waters" and considering the dog was a puppy with a very small bladder - seemed appropriate! haha

When I printed mine...I actually cut 8.5x11 cardstock into 4x6 cards. I like using cardstock because it is thicker. But I have used the index cards for other things since I made my autograph books and haven't any problems with them feeding through the printer. I usually print around 10 cards at a time.

I love the story of the name! Too cute.

Natalie - what did you use for the pages of the autograph book? Is that regular paper or what was it printed on? And, was there space enough to also put on a photo with each character? (Can't tell by the pix what size the autograph book is)

And that scrapbook looks amazing! Here's a question from the creatively-challenged - HOW do you make a digital scrapbook? Sounds much more up my ally than doing one by hand! Looks great, too!

I guess - in terms of the autograph book - the thing is that I want something that I can also put pictures there and have it be not too much labor intensive and not too expensive. :rotfl: I don't mind putting in a bit of work but I don't want anything that turns out to be $20 each either.

DOLLY: This is EXACTLY what I want to do!!!!!!!!!!! I want to put them on
4x6 cards as well? How did you copy them off of PHOTOBUCKET into your file? I tried saving them in a TEMP folder & then when I used PRINTSHOP to open it up...it was all PIXAL-LOOKING. Not clear at all. HELP???

Dolly: I figured out how to do it!! YIPPEE!! Next question open to everyone....HELP???

Does anyone have an opinion as to which autograph book I should attempt to make? Does anyone have 1st hand experience as to which one worked better for them? Either way, after I make my decision, I will have the autograph books bound BEFORE we leave on the trip:

1. Should I make all the pages as 4 x 6 MATTE photos & then mount them onto scrapbooking paper which will then be put into a bound album to be brought on the trip. CONS: Harder time getting signatures for characters who "STAMP" their signatures such as BUZZ. Takes time going to MICHAELS & purchasing & cutting all the paper.

2. Should I make my own pages on cardstock & print them at home. Then have the pages bound at KINKO's before we leave. CONS: Use a lot of my own ink, in case in rains.....the pages can get wet & the ink can "run". OH NO!

Natalie,

I plan on using your BEAUTIFUL images from your 2010 autograph book to make one for our 9/20/09 trip. LOVE THEM!! SIMPLY GORGEOUS!! DO you happen to have pages made for the following characters?? Cruiella, Fairy Godmother, Captain Jack Sparrow, Mike from Monsters, Inc., and Sulley from Monsters Inc., HELP???

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I am thinking about making books too but I am a newbie. My question is about photobucket - I see all these great links to things the DISigners have made. Can we just use them by copying from pb without asking permission or compensating them? I couldn't really find the answer browsing around.

TIA

On our last trip, my dd wanted a book that would have ALL the characters that she wanted to see. So it turned out to be about 225 pages. She loved it (I guess that what matters !!!!). She ended up getting over 100 different autographs. This was due to the fact that we went to MNSSHP twice and saw many "off the beaten path" characters.

To keep the book from being 8 inches thick, I used 28 lb paper (from Office Max). and printed it at home. I also trimmed the pages at home. Then I took it to Kinkos and had it spiral bound. I like to bind it on the top so that pages are easier to scan into my computer for scrapping.
Because I knew there would be a lot of pages, I designed the book to be very ink friendly. It ended up costing about $20 but the interactions with the characters was definitely worth it. They really make a fuss and have a lot of fun with the personalized pages.

Our new book (2010 pages) is going to be much smaller. She has decided that she does not want any characters that do not sign ( like the Monster's Inc Characters) . I will probably print them on lightwieght cardstock because there is more ink involved.

We carry the book in a ziploc in our knapsack in case of rain. We have never had a problem. We also put the characters in alphabetical order so that they are easy to find.

Oh and yes...........feel free to use anything from my photobucket. It's there to share!

Natalie,

Did you cut your card stock? What size is the paper you used for the book?
Do you have a picture of the cover of your book? What did you make your cover out of?
