How do you make a fanny pack fit a skinny kid?

I bought 2 kid's fanny packs for my DD9 & DS9. They are too tiny to put anything in. I have a couple that I bought at Wal Mart last year (Minnie & Mickey) but they are too big. When you tighten the strap, they still slip & loosen up.

Does Disney sell decent-sized kid's fanny packs? If so, how much & where? If not, how do I shorten or tighten the strap?

We bought a 'regular' size fanny pack at MK one yr. We cut the strap to an appropriate length and used a match to melt the end of hte strap to keep it from fraying. Works great. DS is skinny and has used the same fanny pack from age 4-7. The buckle is infinitely adjustable, most i've seen are that way.

Duck Tape. :rotfl2:

Nope, he's not joking. Being "thrifty" he wouldn't want to cut anything off the pack rendering it useless for the future. (Could mean the next 20 years given his track record.) So, he would figure out where it fit and then duck tape the "tail" to the other strapping. Voila, no tail haning down, no slack production, and use in the future. He wants me to add that Duck tape can be purchased in many colors to coordinate to the bag.

He is an engineer with Boeing, but he doesn't duck tape the planes together, I promise.:thumbsup2

Actually, I think the duck tape will probably win!!! My kids won't care as long as it will fit. The strap is already looped. There is one end that is only a couple inches long with 1/2 of the "hooker thingy" on it & the other end is long and looped, so I couldn't cut it and melt it to keep it from fraying, I don't think. I'm gonna check it out tonight when I get home.

Thanks!

My husband is now dancing around, glee spread across his face. You have made his day. I am attatching an animation that closely approximates his current "dance number."

I would use a safety pin to make it shorter.

Eeyore's Wife: I think we must be related by marriage! That sounds like the same thing my husband would do if I ever listened to him!!!

I have two very skinny kids too. I could never find belts for them. We do have one fanny pack that fits them but the pouch is so small it is not worth is.

I'd check out some mountain climbing stores. They would have secure attachments. You might have to visit a seamstress if you are not handy with a sewing machine yourself. Or you could go with the duct tape idea. Alot less hassle and it comes in so many fashion colors these days!

I got my kids theirs at www.beltoutlet.com

For my younger two, I got the kiddie ones at $4.95 (They will NOT be too small for your kids!!!)

My son got the $5.95 one and it looks great.

Don't Laugh but try the ones at walmart for Plus size, LOL let me expain.... Our son is very small sized he's 17 and wears a boys size 16 anyways... When you take off the extender strap for the plus size part and adjust the straps down it fit GREAT!!! plus room to GROW hahaha Good Luck :)

We wrapped the fanny pack belt around my dd twice on an adult pack from Wal-Mart for several years.

Last year we found a cute girl's kid pack for her at Gap that fits great and will hold her autograph book and other misc. items! :thumbsup2

I bought 2 from belt outlet and they fit, but they are not big enough to hardly hold anything. I also tried to wrap it around them twice, not quite big enough for that. I'm still thinking the fashion statement duck tape.

May I point out that Duct Tape now comes in many fashionable colors? DD will probably particularly like the pink or purple...

We used safety pins for our kids fanny packs 6 years ago, several friends and their kids have used them since and just move the pins to fit.

I wouldn't mind safety pinning my own belt, but my kids are just so wiggly, athletic, and physical that I would have worried about the pin popping free and jabbing them. When they were little, I did pin a few things to their shirts, but I don't think I would want to put pins on something with as much possible strain or weight as a fanny pack.

When you are talking about toddlers or young children, you have to consider the "worst case possiblity" in all situations. I try to avoid fixating on that worst case, but I want to take it into consideration.
