How do you know if the economy is affecting DVC sales? There have been many posts speculating about how the economy will impact BLT and other resort sales. But how do you gage it? Is there anyway to really know how sales are going or how close AKV or BLT is to selling out?

There's no definitive way to gauge it, but I'm not sure what difference it makes unless you are trying to figure out your timing for buying a new contract.

That does have something to do with it. Looking at purchasing BLT, trying to time purchases with incentives and wondering about being able to purchase AKV in the future as well.

What has been declared for each resort is a matter of public record at the Orange Co. Registrar's web site if you know how to go search for it, I think. I think a knowledgable search would yield that there are a number of units that haven't even been declared yet.

They can't be sold until they are declared.

Given the magnitude of points for each unit in each of these resorts, I think one could draw a pretty statistically valid conclusion that if one were to conclude that the end is near for either one, one would likely be quite wrong. ;)

I'd be VERY surprised if DVD isn't still selling from the original point basis at both these resorts throughout 2009.

Your findings may vary.

Logically, since sales of most consumer goods are down, major purchases for non-essentials, like DVC would be down some, as well. Also, while Disney may not be reporting an attendance drop, travel in general is reported to be declining. Since some of DVC sales are from contacts in the park, if park attendance is down, that would lead to fewer new contacts, and lower sales. What the actual figures are, though, we do not know.

I doubt you will have to worry during the next year about either one selling out.

From what I can tell from the Orange County website (and I certainly could have miscounted).....

59 2-brs at BLT have been declared so far, on various documents dated Sept 8 thru Oct 27.
The 59 2-brs are in 33 units consisting of one 2-br each, and 13 units consisting of two 2-brs each.

I am sure they have a long way to go yet on AKV since it's so big. BLT...I suspect that if you called and asked your guide about that founding tile thing they probably haven't reached the sell-out point on that yet (wasn't that like for the first 1,000 160 pt. contracts or something). People were hyping that up at first as if it was selling out like a stack of hotcakes at a Buckwheat Festival but I sorta doubt that promotion is sold out yet.

Any DIS'ers able to confirm? To me, after all the hype, if it's still available that tells me it didn't have the run everybody was saying it had.
