How Do You Know Your Checks Are Wrong?

Wow! Good thing they covered the charges then. I remember back when I first started working years ago and opened a checking account. A bank cashed my $5 check as $55 and made a few others bounce because of it. Each month I check that bottom right corner and make sure they cashed it for the correct amount.

Instead of doig Auto pay through you account, you can check and see if the places you get bills from have online payment. I do this. It takes a little more work since I have to go to each site every month (they are not automatic payments) and make sure I submit the payment, but it saves me on check and postage fees. I have found this to be much more convienient than writing a check. At this point about 95% of what I pay is online. The only thing I can't do is the rent check, one credit card, and the Time Warner since my ex is paying that til the lease it up.

I'm doing the same as kylara, almost all my bills have an online option now. I pay each when I'm ready, just go to the site and enter my payment information. Some let me schedule a payment in advance and other's it goes into effect when I submit it but most of them will be credited pretty quickly.

I've had problems in the past with a 3rd party bill payment option and won't ever do that again. Paying each separately works great, I maintain the control and it costs nothing.

I had my internet shut off a couple of months ago so I know how it feels, Jeff. Mine was shut off for different reasons that I had to "fight" but all the same it sure is difficult to run to the folk's place to do all your internetting isn't it!!:o

Good luck!

There's nothing wrong with paying each creditor through their site, but I've found it to be a pain in the butt. If your bank offers electronic checking, you can list all of your creditors and pay multiple bills with only a few clicks on your bank's site.......
