Reading the threads about SW boarding , people have made mention that if your flight is a "continuation" than an "A" Boarding group wouldn't matter. So, my question is, how can I find out if my flight is a continuation or if it originated when I board? Does it matter what airport you are flying from?

The easiest way, but not the most popular way on this board, is to call the airline and ask. Regardless if your flight originates or is a continuing flight, it is always advisable to get as early a boarding spot as possible. If you are on a direct flight, and after the passengers deplane, you can change seats after the flight attendants announce so.

Good question! I want to know too.

I called SW and the rep said that she cannot tell this far in advance. I am scheduled on 8/17, 4:55pm. She did say in all probability it would be a continuation of an earlier flight.

One way to check would be do a search for the flight number on that day. If it comes up as

1234 CVG-ATL
1234 ATL-MCO

Then it's probably a continuing flight. I don't know how often flight numbers change if it's continuing.

Checking SWA and Airtran, I don't see any flight departing PHL to MCO at 4:55 for 8/17.

ETA: I assumed you were flying to MCO, but you might not be.

Flying to MCO but out of BWI, much cheaper than out of PHL

Why wouldn't it matter? It still puts you in a seat before all the people behind you.

I've used to see where the layover was for my parents before.

And the hard thing is you would be guessing if it is a continuation if most of the people are getting off? It could be empty when you board!
