Our past few vacations to Florida have been in December, so no problem with the heat. Now, this year we are going in August....ugh!!! It's going to be H-O-T !!!!
Does anyone have any advice on ways to keep cool/comfortable ???
:listen:
Thanks!

When ur walkin around try to walk through shops as much as possible eg main street. The air con's fantastic. A lot of ppl have told me about a spray called magicool- haven't used it yet tho so can't tell u if it works! :sunny:

Heres what we did on my last vaca. Me dh and dd got a fresh cold drink every hour or at least 2, and each had a big sip (sometimes we got 2) and drank them all up at once, while still ice cold. Also at least once a day got a frozen treat such as a shaved ice or popcicles. It wasnt that bad, since lots of attraction s have partially air conditioned cues. Only a few (dumbo if I remember right) are completely exposed to the evil blazing sun. Apply sunscreen at least twice a day. :teacher:

drink plenty of water, and I find a cup of ice while walking around will help you keep cool. light color clothing, and if possible take a wash cloth from the Resort, to keep your face, neck and wrists cool during a stop in a rest room. Good Luck and don't forget the sun screen .

I like the wash cloth idea! Me, DD, and DH usually will share a water or soft drink every couple of hours, if we get one for each half of each one goes to waste. Last year DD took a friend so me and Dh shared and then we bought them water with the squirt lid so they didn't have to drink after each other. Then when they where done with it we would let them fill it up with water from bathroom or drink fountain and they would just squirt water on themselves to cool off. I have to confess a squirt of cold water down the shirt will cool you off fast. :thumbsup2 Just remember if yall are getting to hot your going to get irrateable so just go back to the hotel and take a break then go back. :)

Be there when the parks open, stay until about 11, and head to the pool. Go back in the evening. Or spend a lot of time at the water parks.

Shorts (as opposed to pants or capris), light-colored shirt, keep hair pulled up (off neck), when I feel like I am starting to sweat too much, I visit a gift shop or two. (I save my shopping for this and do resort delivery)

Just back from a trip where the weather was low 90's and a bit humid(or at least compared to back here in Mass). I now swear I will not wear anything but the shirts made out of the breathable material(nylony type and some with mesh), and the lightweight nylon shorts(either Columbia or LL Bean for me). The shirts and shorts can be found in the "active" wear department in such stores at Dick's Sporting Goods. They say that the material is "breathable" and they sure are! I felt so comfortable and didn't have clothes clinging to my warm body. I even told my DH at one point I felt like I didn't have any clothes on, I was so comfortable!

One more thing - this was my first trip wearing my pink lightweight cotton baseball hat(go Red Sox!)and thought that helped keep me much cooler as I didn't have the sun beating on my head. I didn't care how dorky I looked - kept me from getting too much sun on my poor little face, too.
