It's too bad "FED UP" wasn't one of the choices - cuz that's where I am.
:lmao: :thumbsup2 Ain't that the truth!

After posting this, I too, realized I should have included a few more choices, even for myself. I kind of expected that I was going to vote conservative, but then realized that, being fiscally conservative and socially liberal, that wasn't really right, so I voted moderate.

Anyway, I posted the poll because I find this board far more conservative than any other website I've frequented, and found myself befuddled when I read a post recently that mentioned "the liberal DIS". As I post this, we're at 34% conservative, 38% liberal and 28% moderate. Even Steven as far as I'm concerned.

There ya go, someone who has my answer! LOL!

I voted moderate, because I can go either way depending on the issue.

I'm just me. :D

I am a relatively laid back Republican. If the line were drawn, I would be in the middle, but just over to the right. Extreme liberalism makes me crazy, but I have to say extreme Conservatives do the same. Extreme anything, I guess.

If I had to make a list of everything I believe in, I would definitely fall on the Republican side, but there are a few items where I violently digress from that.

I am a little left of left. Actually I am pretty far left of left.
I am also a fiscial conservative, so I vote for Democrats.

I think these boards lean right, but it may be that the right is more vocal.

I have to say the exact opposite. Right of right, don't remember ever voting for a democrat and can't see it happening soon.

I think the Dis leans way left and while 3 or 4 righties are vocal, they are usually pitted against 20 rabid lefties. Drives me a bit nutty at times.

I'm left of center but not extreme. I believe in taking care of the infrastructure, and protecting the environment and the truly downtrodden but other than that, I want the government and the churches out of my life! I believe that people should do as they wish if they don't harm anyone else.

I also think that the government is extremely wasteful and I believe in being as fiscally responsible as possible.

Libertarian.

Unfortunately, with a lack of any candidates other than Democrats in Massachusetts (other than our govenors), it's pretty slim pickings come election time around here.

And it makes me sick every time I see or hear "Big Head Ted" Kennedy.

I'm as far left as one can be without being a socialist or a hippie. The right's beliefs don't make any sense to me, and the left's do. And contrary to popular belief, I wasn't brainwashed by Michael Moore into repeating everything he says (I get that a lot).

I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. Meaning, get a job and take care of yourself and your family. If that family involves 2 mommies or 2 daddies, I'm all for it. I want the government not only out of my wallet, but also out of my body. I'm not religious, but I'm getting sick of hearing Happy Holidays. If it's X-Mas Day, say Merry X-Mas. During other holidays, mention the holiday - there is nothing wrong with that. It is the Holiday Season, but they are each separate and distinct and deserve to be recognized individually. Speak English if you're working here and living here. But, if you're home or talking to someone privately, speak whatever you want. I'm not offended and I don't think it's rude. If I'm not a party to the conversation, it's none of my business. I'm in favor of a work program and I don't care if they come here to make money and go home. Good for them, but enough of the fence jumpers.

I have a hard time voting because nobody represents how I feel. It's ironic since most of us here seem to think roughly the same way and, yet, none of us are in public office. We should be. :goodvibes

You said it much better than I could. :thumbsup2

Carla, you are me!!!!!!! It would be a cold day in He!! before I would vote...you know...the D word. Ack! Ugh! Pooey! Blech!

It's all about balance.
So count me as a moderate.

I don't vote by parties.
I vote by who I think is best. Even if it is a person who will obviously lose (ie:3rd party candidate).
People get so caught up in the two main parties, that they don't even look at the 3rd or 4th party candidates. And when they do and think "well this person would be better, but they will lose so I'll just vote for the obvious winner instead", it serves to hurt the country.
If a person is obviously right for the job, it shouldn't matter what party they come from (unless it's a racist party). Just vote for them.

It depends on the issue. For the most part I am Libertarian, so it puts me on the conservative side for some things, the liberal side for other things, and out of the ballpark for the rest.

I am pretty right of right. Fiscally and Socially conservative all the way. I even work for the Republican party... I am surprised that people mention that this board is conservative leaning, because I always felt that it was very liberal learning. hmmm...

BTW - I met Cheney and speaker Hastert last week.. Totally made my month!!!

ITA! :thumbsup2
My Mom and I got to meet Barbara Bush last year! Definitely a highlight! :cloud9:

I am proudly, brazenly, unapologetically conservative -financially and socially speaking. I kind of go in spells when it comes to political issues on the DIS. Some times I'll put my 2 cents in, but most of the time I stay out of discussion because I think its better for my blood pressure ;)

At this point in my life I don't feel that I can say I am either Republican or Democrat. Being young as I am (I'm 20), I have a lot of opinions but I also know I still have a lot of learning to do. That's why I picked moderate as my answer to the poll. Sometimes I lean to the right and other times to the left. I am beginning to feel I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal...to a point. Like I said, I just find it hard to box myself into a particular category. But these days people expect you to be one or the other and there isn't a whole lot of gray area. I honestly don't know which party will get my vote in the next election. It will all depend on the candiates and who best represents my ideas on how the country should be run.

You forgot socialist :)

Political stance is kinda a three pronged thing - conservatism, liberalism and socialism.

The extreme of conservatism is facism.

The extreme of liberalism is anarchy.

The extreme of socialism is communism.

I'm a liberal, pretty much where Ghandi was according to online test doohickeys

Rich::

I'd consider myself midway between center and hard right. Although I've been accused of being a right-wing nutjob on several occasions.

I've heard people say they're socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

Anyone care to admit that they are fiscally liberal?
