I recently got my first laptop and was wondering how do you hook up to the internet when at a hotel? Although eventually we will be staying at POP, next weekend we are going to Buffalo, NY and the hotel states it has dial up internet. Is it usually free and does that mean my computer will use whatever internet company is hooked up through that hotel?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Best bet is just to ask at the front desk, but make sure you know what your Lap top is equipped for. I am by no means an expert on this and have limited experience so if I say something wrong, hopefully someone will jump in and correct me. For Dial Up your LT will need a standard Modem and you will need a phone cord. The type you use to connect your phone to a wall jack. For "High Speed" access
your LT must have an Ethernet card installed and you need to bring a "Lan Cable". (Avail. at any store that sells PC stuff, just tell them what you want) In both of these cases you plug your cables into the appro. jacks and to the hotspots on wall. If there is a charge for the service you will probably need an "access code" from the front desk. For "Wireless" internet you need a Wireless modem (obviously). When you get to your room turn on the LT, right click the "Wireless Modem" icon on your task bar and then, if yours is like mine, just click on the Search for avail. Networks and connect. Once again, if there is a charge you will need an "access code". Disney usually charges around 9 or 10 $ a day for Wireless but there is no listing of it being available at POP.
Good luck and the more info you can get, the better. Be prepared for all options.

According to the list on the DIS's HOME pages, High Speed Internet is scheduled to be at POP April 19. I hope so because we will be there in May.

Thanks so much. I have all the little gadgets with my computer that you mentioned so will ask at the hotel when I get there. My hubby bought me the laptop for my birthday so I don't suffer from withdrawl when we go away :teeth:
