How do you help spread the magic?

I am now FGM to 3 families..I am so excited to do this..making cards and sending treats to them before their trip..also one little girl, her B day is next month even though they dont go til Dec, I am making her a B day card and sending it to her..then will send her a PC when we go next month...

We like to do the glowsticks too!

Another way we found to share the magic is to talk to people where ever we are in Disney and give out little tips. We met many families at our resort pool and shared the activities that the resort offered-- some families have just checked in and aren't aware or just haven't had time to read the paperwork. Also we like to share little tips of parks or restaurants that we learned on the DIS. :3dglasses You'd be supposed how many people aren't into the know. :teacher:

My favorite way cost nothing more than a few seconds of my time. I always keep my eyes open for families taking a picture in front of something (castle, spaceship earth,...). More often than not one member of the group is stuck taking the picture and is left out.

A quick offer to let them join the group and take the picture for them always gets a smile

You can by the glow stick bracelets at Target right now as well (15 for $1). I found all the Disney sillybandz at a Hallmark store.

I was given a Mickey silly band the other day. Does anyone know where to buy them?:confused3 Do they sell Disney silly bands in the parks? I know the kids are crazy about those these days and maybe I could buy a few packs of those and hand them out.

My husband picked up two different kinds of mickey silly bandz. He got one set at target and another at wawa which is a gas station in PA. But I am sure you can find them at 7-11 or something like that. I also saw them at michael's and walmart.

We are going to leave them on his pillow one morning. And we picked up Shrek and spongebob at target / michaels for when we go to Universal.
Good luck.

Kelly

I love the silly bands I give them out to my friends siblings they get so excited! You can find them at wal mart I saw them in Wawa today (for those of you not in the virginia/new jersey/deleware/new york area wawa is like a really really nice 7/11) but it only had mickey and toy story ones I didnt see any princesses.

WOW great minds think alike. I said the same thing about Wawa and compared it to 7-11. I made my post before I read yours so I thought it was cool.

I do the same thing. When I worked for the Caesar resorts as a teenager they taught us that the guests always come first. And I have been doing it ever since. You are so right...you always get a smile and thank you! I get the warm fuzzy from it.

Party City has all sorts of Disney themed silly bands: Fairies, Cars, Toy Story, Princesses and MM Club for $1.99 a pack. They had all sorts of little party favors for a dollar or less, not counting the Silly Bands. I spent a total of around $40 (yes, I went overboard, but giving is the best part to me...you should see my Halloween goody bags at home, lol :lmao:) and have 100s of pieces of goodies to give out on top of what is already listed above: mini autograph books, stickers, tattoos, rings, bubbles and party hats that are Mickey ears for anyone who might need a pair. :earsboy:

Micheal's also has a lot of stuff on clearance like bouncy balls, paddle ball games, hair bows, pencils all in the same Disney themes as above (although more heavy on Fairies, MMC and Cars). I'm sure every store has different clearance, but it was like .25 clearance, so worth a look. :)

My Micheal's and Party City are right next door to one another, so I was in a mini-Disney heaven earlier, feeling like the Fairy Godmother picking all these extras to go with the glow necklaces I had already gotten. lol :wizard:

Last place, look at the dollar aisle when you come into the door of your local Target. There is always something Disney there; Pooh, Cars, Fairies (they're everywhere, lol). They are always cute little cheap little trinkets too, nice give out gifts for under a buck. :goodvibes Kids love it and it doesn't rob your bank. Win, win. :cool1:

I wish there was a 'Like' button here like on Facebook because you two would get a like. I too am that person who offers to strangers to take their picture, no matter what the language. I think the sign language for 'I'll take your picture" is universal, lol. I am NEVER in pictures with my DH and kids, because I am the photographer in the family, lol (so seriously, that man couldn't work a camera if it had a bomb on it). :scared1:

I just do for others what I would want done for me and occasional the other person will ask if I would like them to take our picture. If not, oh well, at least they had a memory from that moment, and in that memory there is another memory of the hyper little southern gal who smiled like the Cheshire cat the whole time, not because she was crazy, but because making them happy made her happy and happiness is contagious. And that is how goodwill toward all mankind is made.

I do that too! I always offer to take a photo for families or couples around the park! People always seem so surprised and are so grateful.

Other ways I spread the magic? I smile at people. I try not to let silly little things make me upset and spoil the magic for everyone in the area.

Years ago, I remember standing in line behind a couple and their son while in line for Haunted Mansion. The little boy was scared to death of going in and kept asking his parents if things were going to jump out and grab him as well as other things that people would associate with a regular haunted house. His parents had never been so they were trying to calm him without lying to him. I had been tons of times by then, so I knelt down and told him all about the grinning ghosts. He was a lot better by the time we got to the stretching room.

Offer to take pictures for anyone I notice taking pictures of their group.

Buy glow sticks for DD to pass out. Get ours at Target, a tube for $1.

Pass along extra FastPasses we aren't going to use.

Check the Make a Wish thread for any families that might be going after us and get the kids favorite characters to sign postcards to mail to them.

I wanted to buy extra glow sticks, stickers, etc. for the little kids at WDW, but it will just be me and my DH. My DH is afraid people will get weirded out by us trying to give their children things. Has anyone ever had a problem with this? If so how did you handle it? I am the type of person who likes to sprinkle fairy dust, but I do not want to cause a scene...

I think that if you do it quickly and then fade back into the crowd, it adds to the "kindness of strangers" mystique. Or, if you're sitting at a parade or something, you can always tell the parents that you miss those days with your own kids or grandkids or whoever.

Creeps and weirdos wouldn't generally approach well-attended kids who are with their grownups, you know?

I guess that is true, my DH had something like this happen to him and his friend at an arcade. They tried to give a little kids their tickets they won, because they never use them, and the parent started yelling at them to stay away from their kid. It was crazy!

This is one of my fav memories of our trip last year. My family and I were taking a break just outside the exit of Rock n Roller Coaster, sitting on the brick wall in the shade. A dad and his daughter, who looked to be about 4-5, were in line to get a snack. The little girl was having a rough day, and started to throw a tantrum. I noticed this and put my "magic" to work. I approached the pair and asked dad if it were ok if I talked to his daughter, and he allowed me to. So I stooped down to her level and started talking to her, telling her that I was a special friend of Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell had asked me to keep an eye out for some special children to help her spread her pixie dust. So as I was talking to her, she calmed down. Then I pulled out of my pocket a small bottle of green glitter that I had gotten at a dollar store, and I sprinkled some on her head. Then I told her that Tink and I wish her a magical trip. As I finished, the dad thanked me as his daughter was now beaming! The joy I was able to bring to that little girl will always stay with me as one of my most magical moments.:wizard:

;) You made me cry. This gives me goose bumps and makes me feel all the magic. I MUST do this. God bless you! ;)

Someone posted they were looking for a DCL scrapbook (forgot to buy one on the ship) & I had purchased one but decided I wouldn't use it after all.
After a few PM's, I sent it off to her - No Charge. :)
(I 'm met the nicest people in WDW:grouphug:)
