I'm just sitting here in the aftermath of the Snowstorm/Blizzard that hit the midwest and is heading east (Good luck everyone!!) and wondering how everyone gets their WDW fix while surrounded by snow.

Our typical "fix" is running up to the Mall of America in Minnesota - only a bit over an hour away - and spending some quality time at the Disney Store. We also drive right past MSP on the way, and DS likes to point out the planes that we take to Orlando. We always pick up $5 in Disney dollars for DS's spending money for whatever upcoming trip we have planned and somehow, coming home with the brightly cheerful bags, little Disney items, and something tangible for our trip helps scratch the itch. (Not to mention Disney Stores have GREAT sales, something unheard of at the World :D

Two weekends ago, we also drove down to Madison to see Disney on Ice (Beauty and the Beast) and were delighted to see Mickey, et. al. so involved in the intro and conclusion...it was almost strange to see so many people in Packer jackets, and hats and mittens as we were leaving...it felt like we should have been in Florida, not Wisconsin.

And then, of course, there is allearsnet, the Dis, etc...

So how do you all take care of that need for a little Disney??

I'm sitting here watching your snowstorm from yesterday hit us here on Long Island and hoping that it clears out in time for us to leave for OKW bright and early Monday morning! I'm almost afraid to watch the news for fear they will say that Kennedy Airport is closed indefinitely! To get my Disney fix I come to boards like this one, and the Passporter board, read everyone's trip reports, and dream about buying extra points. I received a few Disney movies for Christmas, so that's another way to get a "shot" of Disney for me.

Try listening to one of the many Disney radio stations on Live 365.

We are a bit partial to one in particular ;) but there are enough to fit everyones likes and dislikes.

Read these boards, watch our vacation videos, look at our pictures, and then after all that, start planning our next trip! :D

I get my Disney fix by planning our next trip. We have 3 trips ahead in 2005. One to our Boardwalk home in June, The DVC Member Cruise in September and Disneyland in December. So between planning those and doing our scrapbook from our most recent cruise (December 2004) I'm always in a Disney mood! :earsgirl:

Planning my next trip!
Of course I work at the Disney Store, so I get a "Fix" every time I work:earboy2: I have lots of guests tell me they are there to get their fix before their next trip....so it's pretty common.

Hi,

Watch a disney movie, listen to disney soundtracks, or come on these boards a few times a day.

Allison

When I need a "Disney Fix" while I'm waiting for our next trip home I just walk into my family room, it's wall to wall Disney. or I can go in my living room, it's set up like the VWL (our 1st resort). We are doing the bathrooms next. yah!!!

We are really Disneyholics. can you tell?
But what I enjoy most is just coming to the DVC Comm, site and it helps me understand that I'm not alone in my love for the "World" or the "Mouse"

We plan our next trips and listen to soundtracks from Illuminations, Fantasmic, etc. People must think we're nuts when they pull up to our car at a light and we are singing along (yup, singing along to instrumentals) with the Spectromagic Parade music! When we go the WDW and see the fireworks, shows and parades, we sing along then, too!!!

It helps a little.

Well, that snow storm that some of you mentioned, has now come to Boston. Between 20-30 inches. So I think I'm going to need a Disney fix real soon! Our cable is out on the entire street, so tv isn't an option this evening.
Fortunately, my computer plays dvds.
My Disney fix is usually found in a couple of ways-I come here to these boards, I plays Disney music, watch Disney vacation dvds or movies, planning the next trip is always fun. Oh, and I watch that DVC video that they gave us, when I really wish I was ''home'' instead of home (buried under snow!!!!!!!!!!!)

:flower1:

We were dumped on by snow last night and there is more falling now!

I am always planning our next trip. DCL in May, BWV in October, and maybe a mom and kids trip this summer. We have our basement walls decorated with ESPN Club and All Star Cafe Menus, our BWV lithos, SSR promotional poster, etc. And DH and I always talk about how much we love our DVC trips and spending time with our family and discuss why is it that others just don't get it. Unfortunately, our DS is in a mall that it going downhill and the DS is going downhill as well.

I try to watch my vacation videos and I look at the Travel Channel on Demand at least 3 times a week to see if there is any new specials on the world. They could probably do a weekly show about WDW and get great ratings. I know all here would watch. Oddly enough I just saw only 20 minutes ago a re-run of the old "Rosanne" show and it was their trip to WDW. I don't like the show but found it while surfing. It was nice to see the world from I guess 10 years ago. They showed the old sky ride still working! It was good to see during this filthy blizzard. :earboy2:

Read the disboards, Check out the updates on Allears, look at our photos. I cant listen to my CDs of the park. They make me get too emotional! I like to plan the next trip wdw also.

That's what I'm doing right now!

We got just over a foot of snow here in Southeast lower Michigan. What I have been doing is playing on the DISboards, so I could watch my countdown timer. I also used my Disney dishes and silverware along with my Disney mugs and glasses all weekend. I kept "refilling" my Beach Club refillable mug all weekend.

I have my park music CDs playing and plan on a game of Disney SCENE IT with DH later on today, after he digs out the driveway...the snowplow came through a bit ago!

I get my Disney fix in many ways. I love the DIS boards, I am always planning another trip, I make Disney scrapbooks for each year we have gone and then look through them when I need a fix. I watch the travel channel whenever something Disney is on. Just last night my whole family, DH, DD 12 and DS 9 played Disney Trivial Pursuit!! If you don't have it, you MUST get it. There are 2 sets of cards. One with regular questions for adults and one with easy questions for the younger ones like my 9 year old. It's alot of fun!

Magicmouse2, I can relate! My sister found a website that plays all the ride "songs" like the whole loop of Splash Mt., The Haunted Mansion, even the Hall of Presidents and you request them. You can even request that they play the loop for illuminations and the opening music for Magic Kingdom. You can even request that they play the 10 second bit about stepping away from the monorail doors. She listens to it everytime she gets on the computer but I get too emotional to listen.

Sometimes it's hard for me to do my scrapbook because of the emotions of wanting to be back soooo bad.

I mainly hang out here on the boards. I like to get Deb Will's AllEars Newsletter that comes out weekly so that's something to look forward too. Sometimes I'll even pick up my old Birnbaum's and read that. I like to watch the Travel Channel as others have mentioned for upcoming Disney shows. I just ordered the new planning dvd so I'll watch that when it comes in.

I used to love going to the Disney Store to get my fix but they changed the decor and the merchandise just isn't the same. It used to be whimsical with the different Disney Character scenes displayed around the top perimeter of the store and the big store front windows with the different moving Disney scenes but they did away with all of that! :sad2: Now it's just (I don't know what it is) I guess you'd say "futuristic" decorated in cold silver metal w/ red and black Mickey silouhettes. No more big inviting store front windows. And the merchandise that the store is stocked w/ is just a bunch of kids clothes and toys that you can get at the local WalMarts.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way to cure your Disney fix is to just take a trip. :p

Message boards and now my new obsession - shopping online for the best deal on Disney Italian charms! :earboy2:

Just ordered me a really cute Alice! :Pinkbounc

Listening to my park music CD's while driving around, esp to and from work!
Reading the boards, looking at old photo albums, etc, etc, etc
If DH is working, sometimes I take my tapes of the Travel Channel shows and watch them over and over and over again!
Planning my next trip and looking at my countdown counter also helps.

Sorry for all the snow you Northeasterners and Midwesterners have received. Hope all are well. Think of those warm sunny skies in Florida!
