Standard terms for bonuses is 60 days after they have been earned could take up to 120 days. You need to plan a long time in advance if you're looking to be able to use them.
I was just reading the TC for new BMO Airmile card. Each card has different terms as to posting of bonuses. You'll need to see if you can find the TC for the card you have and it's particular offer. The one I read was 110 days after account open date... Here are some terms (they may or may not apply to your particular card)
Eligible approved applicants will receive:
i. A bonus of 3,000 Bonus Miles will be applied to the primary Credit Cardholder’s Collector Account 110 days after the credit card account open date after you spend a minimum of $4,500 (less refunds and excluding cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest charges, fees, credit or debit adjustments) within the first 110 days after the account open date.
ii. A further bonus of an additional 2,000 Bonus Miles will be applied to the primary Credit Cardholder’s Collector 180 days after the account open date when you spend a minimum of $10,000 (less refunds and excluding cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest charges, fees, credit or debit adjustments) within the first 180 days after the account open date.
iii. An additional bonus of 2,000 Bonus Miles will be applied the primary Credit Cardholder’s Collector 365 days after the account open date when you spend $20,000 (less refunds and excluding cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest charges, fees, credit or debit adjustments) within the first 365 days after the account open date.
iv. All Bonus Miles are credited in accordance with the set balance preference (between AIR MILES Cash and AIR MILES Dream balances) at the time of posting. The AIR MILES Bonus Miles Offer is subject to the AIR MILES Reward Program Terms and Conditions. Limit of one AIR MILES Bonus Miles Welcome Offer per Collector Number.
Please allow up to 8 weeks after the conditions for each element of the offer are fulfilled for the Bonus Miles to be credited to your AIR MILES primary Credit Cardholder’s Collector Account provided the account is open and in good standing. If the Credit Card is cancelled within 365 days from the date it was opened, all Bonus Miles earned within that period may be cancelled.
