How do you get the glitter on t-shrits?

For those of you who make t-shirts for your trips...I have seen a few that are outlined in glitter. What glue and glitter do you use and can you please explain any tips you might have?

we used fabric glue (comes in a tube) and fine glitter (came in a pkg of 6-8) from Hobby lobby. glitter is a little pricey but we had 40% off coupons.
