How do you get rid of a lie bump?

Wow, that's interesting. What in the world did you google that brought you to the DIS??!

Never heard of "lie bumps", but welcome to the DIS nolimit165! :)
I searched "lie bumps" on either Google or Yahoo! lol And I feel out of place because Ive never been to Disney Land lol

We then, you can be inspired to plan your first trip! :goodvibes

Actually, we talk about lots and lots of stuff here (on the community board section) very little of it Disney related, so basically if you have an opinion on something and you'd like to share it, here are 70,000 or so people just waiting to hear it :teeth:

Laurie :)

My mom always called them "lie bumps" too!!!!!

I'm just so surprised that I'm not the only one that gets these sores!!! My husband's family calls them "bersaheits" = I'm sure a made up name and a cross between German and Yiddish. I swear I need an English to Inlaw dictionary sometimes!!!!

Too funny. I wondered if I would have the nerve to suggest cutting the lie bump off when I read the first post. Then I read further and saw that there are others just like me out there! Snipping the sucker is the only way to go. You will experience a little bit of blood, but the discomfort will end right away.

OMG, I thought I was the only one who did this!!! I always use nail clippers, too, because they seem to be the easiest, least bloody way. I'd be too scared of cutting myself, or having the darn bump slide out of the blades, with regular nail scissors.

Oh, and I've never heard them called "lie bumps" before, either. I always called them "cankers", although I know they're not the same, for lack of a better name. Now I know better!

Hello,
I have a zit thingy on my toung. i dont no how i got it or how to get rid of it any body have any ideas????

ya okay cut it off i just used my nail and squeezedit it still hurts a little but its not rubbing agents my teeth any more thank you ppl

Edited because I didn't read the whole thing first. I thought it was the canker sores...my solution was to use Listerine but apparently this is something different.

We always grew up calling them lie bumps. And yes---they sure do hurt.I also have trouble getting them if i eat a lot of citrus or tomatoes.Matter of fact,I have one now,but really haven't eaten anything but an orange a couple of days ago. They really suck.:laundy:

I put a little salt in my hand and stick my tongue to the salt. I guess,

swishing with the salty water works too. I just do the salt. It doesn't go

away immediately, but it helps. I have never heard of cutting them off.:scared:

You people are braver than I am.

My family called them lie bumps too!!!!:confused3

Interesting how this thread keeps getting bumped up every year or so by someone who is new to the board. Is it because they google "lie bump?" (Which I have never heard before today, but I know EXACTLY what you all are talking about. I have tried to google for it myself, but I googled "white bumps on tongues" and never got anywhere. :confused3 They really do seem to be one of nature's mysteries.)

You are the only other person EVERY (outside of my family) who has ever referred to a Lie Bump!! I thought my grandma made that up herself!! LOL!! Sorry.. I don't have any cure... just wanted to tell you I know what it is!! And yes... they do hurt!!! Sorry!!!

Kathy

another one for calling it a lie bump LOL! I never known anyone to call it that either.

I've never heard of the term lie bump!

Anyway, if it's like the tongue sores I've had....OUCH! I know how much it hurts. I went to the dentist for mine and he said that it could be the tail end of a virus and to wait. Sadly, he said it could last up to 2 weeks, and he was right.

I heard that taking vitamins can help. Try to avoid citrus and other acidic food while your tongue is healing.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Are there any other foods you might recommend staying away from while dealing with tongue sores?

I have always called them salt sores. Sorry, I tweeze mine off too

To tell the truth I have one right now! And it's bad :guilty: like it's turned solid white. :( But my family has always told me to drink a small glass of warm milk, or eat some figs. Yes, it sounds yuck but it cleans your tummy out! That's what causes "lie bumps" it a upset tummy. Although your tummy may not hurt, it's upset :l.
