How do you get from the airport to your hotel?

Uber...if you are not Uber savy (it is really easy) I just hop in a taxi. Cabs are lined up ready and waiting at the airport. I HATE shared shuttles, waiting for their schedule and making stops...I just wanna get there...so it is Uber or Taxi for me.

That is from SNA. From LAX I will also price out a rental car as it can often be just as cheap as a shuttle

From SNA we use Uber. We use our kids car seats on the plane so no issues for us with that.

If we want to drive someone other than the exact area we get a car rental for the day in DTD.

Is this new? Tipping through the app didn't used to be an option with Uber. That's great if it is!!

Yep just did it yesterday. At least it is on Chicago. It was available early on in Uber, then removed, and recently available again. Last time I was in Vegas it wasn't available and the driver was basically begging for a tip, obnoxiously.

That will make tipping more convenient. I try to have cash on hand for tipping but in-app tipping is way better.
How unprofessional of the driver in Vegas. That's a good way NOT to get a tip in my books!

One thing to note, and I'm not sure how it is based, was the tip options were : $1, $3,and $5. Then in smaller print at the bottom "custom". I was going to tip $2, since the fare was a little less than $10, but I hit $3 right as I saw custom, too late.

I hate having to worry about having cash. Especially smaller bills and enough. I once bought food at some cash only place before leaving NYC, and didn't have any cash left to tip the bellhop for my bags. He was NOT happy. I felt really bad.

Good to know about the tip options. Thanks!!

SNA or LGB, we use a taxi--about $45 to the resort area, and $40-50 on the way back ($50 for LGB).

When we fly into SNA we use a taxi. There is a taxi stand right next to the shuttle/buses and we just walk right up and get one. There is never a wait and I like that I don't need to arrange anything in advance. That is for us and our two kids. We used to take SuperShuttle but I decided I wanted to go straight to my hotel without waiting for anyone else. :)

This happened to me at a hotel once. I for sure thought I had extra cash, but realized I accidentally used it for a cash only place earlier in the day. It was SO EMBARRASSING! Ever since then I *always* make sure I stock up on small bills (and don't use them!) on a trip.

Uber or Lyft. I suggest seeing if you can find some sort of promo when signing up. Right now Lyft has been offering me a credit if I use it on weekdays (which I'm a SAHM so I don't use it anymore so its not really helpful). Uber I believe has cashback if you sign up through Ibotta plus they are offering a $5 bonus on mobile app purchases right now. Lyft had a sign up bonus and then a code that gave a discount if you got another person to sign up. So we alternated between my husband and myself to max the discount codes. Overall always a good driving through Lyft, Uber is more hit and miss for some reason.

Also great for getting around once there.

usually disney express with my kids and we stay on site, our next trip will be offsite so I will be trying out Lanskys.

Do you know the approximate cost for a taxi from SNA?. Flying in at the end of the month - trying to decide if a taxi is more reasonable than the shuttle for 4 adults. Not interested in doing Uber or Lyft.

Average fare is $45 plus tip and they usually have mini vans on standby that do not cost any more than a standard cab for larger groups.

If you are saying on site, you can get a flat rate return voucher from the Valet that I think drops the cab ride back down to $35.

Thanks, we're staying off-site at Candy Cane. I think we'll stick with the shuttle - it works out a little cheaper. We usually fly into LAX, but doing SNA this time around. How long is the travel time from SNA approximately?

No traffic 17 min door to door.

Downside to shuttle...especially a shared shuttle...is that you usually have to wait a bit to depart on schedule and there may be several stops before you get dropped at your hotel. That can a a lot of time for not a lot of money saved.

But like I said...I hate shuttles so my suggestions are a bit biased.

This thread is making me rethink my plans for next month. I am flying in/out of SNA and staying on Harbor Blvd. across from Disneyland. I have Super Shuttle booked and have used them without issue in the past, but the reviews online are pretty bad, and Karmel is twice the price for marginally better reviews. This thread is making me think I should try Uber or Lyft; I've never used either and I am a female and traveling solo. It's a short weekend trip, so I don't really want to take the scenic route of Anaheim on the shuttle when I could be in the parks.

Taxi....... for SNA it's cheap and direct and easy to find. The shuttles are (have been $11 pp)....For 4 people I would hop in a taxi!

For LGB, taxi flat rate $45, but last time we walked out to where the shuttles were hanging around and got one for $40 for the 2 of us and the driver did not wait around for anyone else, so private ride....and we called him when we were going back and it was the same price back to LGB.
