How Do You Get Codes? Help

Hi Everyone-

I may sound ignoraat here, but what's this about discount codes and how do I get them? I've been to Disney many times - over 17times booked through Disney directly (they have it in their computer) and I've never gotten any info on codes. Years ago when they had the Vacation Club I was a member and got discounts that way, but that was it.

I got married 3 years ago and all but one of my trips is under my maiden name, but again I never knew of these codes until I saw these boards.

Do you just ask when you call reservations if you have a code? How can you get on a mailing list? Disney can obviously see that I go there often. When I called recently about pricing I asked if there were any discouts or special offers and I was told no (I'm going 1st week in Sept.)

It's a moot point this year because a friend is letting me use her DVC points since she can't use them this year and I am saving alot on a 2-bedroom suite at Boardwalk. But for future trips (and I will be taking them) I'd really like to know how I can get these codes and know about upcomig discounts.

There has been some buzz that people who have ordered the trip planning dvd (from the DW website) has triggered email or snail mail pin codes. Honestly though no one really knows Disney's marketing and why some get it and others don't...

I just called and asked. Check under your spouse's name, old addresses and maiden name. I have even heard from a CM that they have been under some guests children's name??
