We just found out we have some friends that will be visiting the Fort the same time as us. How can we get our sites close to each other or better yet next to each other?

Thanks

Call the reservations line and tell them that you are a "grand gathering." They will link your reservations and put you next to your friends. EASY AS 123:thumbsup2

thanks... when we called they said it had to be 8 people to be a Grand Gathering we only have 7 so they linked us together as a "travel whiz"? Hope this works.....

I have to say that we have linked our reservations with my parents for the past 3 years and we have NEVER gotten close to one another. Now they stay in a cabin and we take the camper and all we asked is that our loops be "close" and it never seems to happen. I hope you have better luck than us.

I have also seen on DisBoards the suggestion of faxing requests about a week before you leave for your trip. We are going to try that this time.

I was not real pleased with the answer the lady on the resi line gave my wife!!!
I would like to know the fax number if you can give it to me.. Thanks for your help.

Send me money. I know Bobby.

All you have to do is link your ressie numbers together. Call and give them both of the numbers and they will put you together. We have never had a problem.

HA HA, the trip before this one, we went with friends, asked for sites next to each other, asked for 900 near the CS, because I don't walk well. Asked for non pet. We faxed, we called, we emailed all the requests... got there and we were in the 1800 loop, opposite ends, as far from the CS as you can get at the fort, and right next to about 100 yappy dogs. Called the front desk, they said they didn't have any more open sites...

My suggestion to get a site close together is to PRAY!

They cannot always promise this, especially when you made your resi seperate. Had you made it together, originally as a Grand Gathering, they couldn't have promised unless it was available at that time. Different folks request different size sites and amenities. How would you like it if the site you requested first(months ago) was given to someone else months later because they called and made a requesta week or two before arrival? Camping is just not as flexible in this way as a hotel might be. I've been to State parks that don't use this common sense and almost had to go home because my camper would not fit in what was left, when I had been promised a more than adequate site.

Actually we were part of a grand gathering, we had a number, I made both resivations in MY name, and I paid for both. Both we made on the same phone call about 9 MONTHS ahead of time. Spend any amount of time reading about this topic here on the boards, and you will see it is an absolute MICACLE if you actually get what you ask for. We had I think 24 sites booked as a GROUP reservation, for this GG and we requested the 900 loop. We were all scattered in the 400 loop, and I do mean scattered. We got there about a week before everyone, and I saw sites open and fill, and I can tell you, with just a couple minutes of thought, we could have easily been put together, without disney loosing one penny. No one will ever convince me that the site assignment problems at disney are nothing more than laziness of their part.

For the Halloween GG we were placed in loop 1100 instead of with the group in 400. Nothing we could do about it either. Sorry guys that we didn't get to party with you all. :)

i have to tell you this happened to me this weekend. we booked two sites as a grand gathering with 10 people 6 months ago. we made specific requests and even picked a loop which was the 500 loop. they asked for a backup loop and we said 400 and close to a comfort station as we have someone on the family with advanced bone cancer. we were told 6 months ago no problem we have been back 4 times and each time we were comfirming this reservation. everytime they said no problem we were there last sunday for halloween and when checking out went in and made sure the resrvations for 4 days laterThursday. would be the same. they said yes we were on the 500 loop and we requested a certain site. they said they would try their best to give us that exact site. we also have a pet so we need a pet loop. now fast forward to thrusday checkin
i arrived at 1230 to make sure i was there to get the sites all squared away even took my son out of school for the day to help me set up and get everything ready for a family getaway with the grandparents. arrived at 1230 and was told we were on the 1200 loop, oh and by the way that is not a pet loop so you have to kennel your dog. i looked at the guy in disbelief told him everything that had been told to me. he sent me inside. i go inside and am told the best they can do is the 300 loop 10 sites away from each other conveniently placed far away from the cs. and told i never told them we had pets and that was the problem . i asked if this was a premium loop and was told yes, as my inlaws have a 43 ft camper and trailer. arrived on the site and it was a prefferred site with barely enough room for my travel trailer. so back to the frontwhere i was told by the manager it was not their fault they could not get my reservation right because of me not informing them of a pet. i also informed them both the 500 and 400 loop was a ghost town. they told me a group booked them on tuesday and tehy needed all the sites for this big group. i responded how did i lose my spot i was told i had for 6 months and confirmed the week prior. they pretended like they never ever heard about any of this. luckily i ended up getting the girl who made all the reservations with and have been in contact with about this. sheclearly told me exactlly what happened. the pet was alway marked they missed it. i was moved from the 500 to the 400 loop by a cm on tuesday. then on wed more groups book which then moved me to the 800 loop. then at 11am of the morning in which i was checking in a group had reserved the 800 loop for fridy and saturday. and some cm had just moved us to the 1200 loop without checking the pet situation. however she booked me on the 1100 loop which was fine. the big problem i arrived at 1230 to get there early set up and have a father son day with my son at a park before our group arrived that night for dinner and the craziness insued. i was not assigned a spot till between 245/3pm. weel by the time we set up and everything was done it was after four and we had not even had lunch. needless to say. it was the worst camping experience i have ever had fort wilderness or not. and this is the fourth time this year i have been up there with a group and everytime we have not been together. they stink at groups.
