How do you figure out how many points you needed to rent?
We are going to be in DIsney from 5-14 to 5-20 and I am trying to learn how to rent DVC points.

We stayed in BC this December and we loved it.

How do you do this? :rotfl2: Does it matter about the kind of room you need? We have 4 deifinate and maybe a fifth person. I know the BC room we had had two queens and a day bed. Are the DVC quarters the same set up?

At the top of the page, there are links to the DVC Point Charts. You can use those to figure out the number of points required for your stay.

For example, if you want to stay in a studio at the Beach club Villas for 7 nights in May(check in 5/14/06 and check out on 5/21/06), it would be 123 points. If you are checking out on 5/20 (6 night stay) your stay would be 94 points. May is Dream Season.

Studios at the WDW resort all have one queen bed and a double size sleep sofa. OKW is an exception - its studios have two queen beds. The maximum in a studio is 4 persons, but you may have a 5th if that person is under 3 years old. A portable Pac 'n Play crib is provided for the infant.

If you have 5, you really need a 2 bedroom. It is said that MS will allow 5 in a one bedroom, but there are only towels and bedding for 4 (plus an infant). If you put 5 in the 1 bedroom, you're on your own for extra bedding. DVC will not provide any extra bedding to accomodate more than the stated 4. Some people bring an aero bed when they choose to have 5 in the one bedroom units.

Forgot to add that the 1 bedroom units all have one king bed in the bedroom and a queen size sleep sofa in the living room. There is also a portable crib.

Best wishes -

Using the points chart above one week 5/14-5/20 will be 314 points if the 2 bedroom size is still available. Next you will need to find someone by going over to the Rent Trade board who has enough points to rent to you, and make sure that they can get the room this close to the date. You could cut down the points by not staying there Friday and Saturday night and it decreases the total points needed to 140 points for 5 nights stay.

Good Luck!

Thanks so very much for explaining this to me. :)

This is a new option for us and I was completly lost in figuring it out. :rotfl:

If 4 of us go I think the $10 times 94 would be good but if we do 5 of us then the cost gets a bit much for our budget.

I will have to present this to DH and see what he thinks of it.

I know we just loved the BC area and I would love to return there. :goodvibes
