How do you feel now about flying out of US airports?

I know that many Canadians across Canada, myself included, drive over the border and fly out of the US airports because of substantial cost savings. Do you think you will still do it?

I am not a nervous flyer. However, I still find myself wondering if the increased security measures will be enough. I was glad to hear that only people with boarding passes will be allowed to the gate.

We will still fly from the US without any problems. Although I did read on CNN.com I think that 3 Nortwest airlines employees in Pheonix walked through all security measures to test them one caryng a knife the other with a corkscrew and a pilot with no visible ID. I will still fly Northwest or Southwest out of Detroit and Buffalo without any problems.

I think we need to remember that flying out of the US will be every bit as safe as flying out of Canada. In fact Canada will need to substantially increase it's security. I think that we all need to realize that a plane flying from TO to Vancouver, will have just as much fuel on board, and can just as easily be hijacked and headed to Washington as a plane leaving from Boston headed for San Francisco can. I don't want to alarm anyone, but only to point out that security measures in BOTH countries will be substantially increased therefore making it every bit as secure to fly from a US city as a Canadian one.

Hi agree Pooh! My thoughts which I have been trying to ignore is that the US has beefed up security in it's airports - is Canada going to the same extremes? If not whose to stop anyone boarding a plane here thats heading for the states and doing the same thing again? We live right between Toronto and London and air travel is busy over our house - it's make you wonder as you stare at all of those white lines of plane smoke in the air!

We will be flying out of Buffalo in April again and I am only a teeny bit nervous, but I would feel that way boarding a plane anywhere right now.

Having flown back from Disney into buffalo last Saturday I have to say I feel every bit as safe flying from the US as from Canada. I think Canadian airports have always had more security (at least Pearson) then many US ones so I don't know how many visible changes we will see. I was quite happy to fly into Buffalo, the airport was pretty quiet last saturday and we had no problem getting over the boarder back into Canada. That being said it will be a very long time before we fly again. The inconvience of being stuck in Orlando last week really hit hard it will be along time before we put our self in that situation again.
