how do you feel about trails end dinner??

We ate dinner at Trail's End for the very first time a couple of months ago and we just loved it! I have teenagers and they really like to pick and choose at the buffets. There was such a huge selection here and the atmosphere was really cool too. We felt like it's one of those hidden gems. No characters, but a great and reasonably priced dinner!

My family has always liked it. The buffet has a good variety, and it is relatively easy to get an ADR.

I havebnt been yet, but posted this same quewstion not too long ago. Of the 20ish responses, not one of them was negative. Im looking forward to my dinner there in September, and really looking forward to the little boat ride back to MK after the meal. Its a nice way to realx / digest before walking another 10 miles!!!!

Super! Memorable Caesar and beef loin. I do not like Disney buffets... Not the food, but the management with three kids. TE is much more manageable... More compact serving area, same with table set up. My older kids felt comfortable handling their own plates, hallelujah! Also. If you have vegan or allergy guests, this is where to find chef TJ!!! Yes, he is famous!

NOTE1: Above include breakfast-dinner (we don't like the lunch), it has tasty comfort
food. We like the buffets as dining alternatives, as they are reasonably priced for Disney
meals. Lunch is far behind in quality or value. In Spring-2011, they changed lunch menus
to ala carte and we recommend it only for a light midday meal. We think the lunch food
is a little overpriced and only average in food quality. For dinner, taste the yummy fried
chicken and "make-your-own-potato" bar. For breakfast, you REALLY, REALLY, NEED the
sticky buns. The nice thing about breakfast, might be the low crowds, as many campers
prepare breakfast at the campsite. Trail's End Breakfast Buffet is the second best buffet,
behind The Wave breakfast buffet at Contemporary for quality, and the best price value.
A point to remember is that the majority of the Trails End customers are from the camp
ground, so they prices are reasonable and the items are good comfort food.
.
NOTE2: Trails End is out-of-the-way for most WDW guests. It takes about 20-min for the
boat from MK-to-FW, about 10-minutes for the boat from WL-to-FW, about 15-min for the
boat from CR-to-FW (excluding the waiting times for the next boat).

We ate at Trails End last minute for dinner, very pleasantly surprised, thumbs up, would definitely go back.

Im actually sitting here finding a spot to put this in our plans right now. The main problem seems to be getting to the restaurant as you have to take a boat or bus if you aren't staying at Ft. Wilderness (from what I understand). I'm not a fan of crowded busses and you can (apparently) only take the boat from MK which means we'd miss the fireworks and parade to get dinner here. Still want to go though. I have not seen one bad review about this place and the price is spot on.

We had dinner there one year when we were staying in the cabins at FW. It was fine because it was convenient, but I'd never make a special trip just to eat there. We've never been back and have no plans to return this upcoming trip

Has anyone ordered from
Carry-out? How are the portions, and if you're not staying on the grounds where did you find a spot to eat? TIA

image.jpg We celebrated Dad's birthday last month at Trail's End. This is the strawberry shortcake they brought him to celebrate. Couldn't wait to dig in. The food is simple comfort food, nothing fancy, but very tasty! We hope to go back soon, but don't know just when. We live about 8 miles north of MK (12 to drive-no straight lines) and are trying new restaurants each time we go. And this one we will go to again! Hope you enjoy it too!

We love it there. We don't usually eat table service meals, but Trail's End is the one ADR I always make. The food is good and it's a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Pretty easy to get ADRs as well.

We were there a couple years ago for my 40th birthday. My husband and kids surprised me with an amazing Ursula themed cake and he said the staff there was wonderful to work with. They showed him the cake ahead of time and they asked if they could parade it around the restaurant before coming to me. They made a huge deal out of the cake and my birthday. Kitchen CMs even came out to wish me Happy Birthday. Everyone was so nice and friendly, it was a great experience.

Trails End (dinner or breakfast) is very, very good. And the boat ride to and from the MK is a great touch providing the weather is good. Don't do what I did . . . ride the boat in driving rain & high winds. Me & my poncho were never the same! I tend to divide dining between great values when on the Dining Plan and great values when paying OOP. This is a great value OOP. I tend to save it for trips when I am not on the DP but want a big meal with lots of tasty choices. Enjoy!

Not only is Trails End a favorite, but love having a little extra kick back time to relax and soak in the ambiance of Ft Wilderness as well.

Another thumbs up from us for dinner. We've never done breakfast or lunch at Trail's End but have always enjoyed the dinner. Love the fried chicken and ribs here. A smaller selection than most of the buffets on property I think but that comes with a smaller price tag. We do make special trips here because we like it so much.
