How do you ever get through that last 7-10 days?

By some weird coincidence of life, something crazy is always bound to happen at work the week before I leave on vacation. I'm usually so busy working to finish it before I go away I don't have time to think about how eager I am to get going.

I am feeling you. I get so excited right before going. Usually I agonize over my packing lists, pack then unpack and repack. I am a big list person and that is the only way I stay sane because if I relied upon my memory we would be lucky to get there with a suitcase. I vote for the craft idea!! Decorate your door/window. Decorate your MB. Design a t-shirt or 10. I plan to do all of these!!

My job keeps me busy so I don't have much time to get impatient for vacation

Don't forget to call Garden Grocer to stock up on adult beverages for your trip. They'll be waiting for you when you arrive.

About your "may never get my husband to go back" comment...you really never know. Our first trip as a family my hubby was less than impressed and was sick in bed 4 of the 7 days we were there. Needless to say he HATED Disney and everything about it. However, I somehow got him to agree to a do-over and many trips later, he plans the NEXT trip before we go on the current one. There's always hope!

By the way, we are in our last few days before vacation as well and time does go INCREDIBLY slow! Enjoy your vacation!

Okay, seriously, time has FLOWN since we started planning our trip 6-7 months ago, and now suddenly we leave 10 days from today and time seems to be draaaaaaaging. I want to leave NOW! I'm starting to pack a few things, trying to make sure all loose ends are tied up (we're going to be gone a total of 17 days so quite a few details at home to attend to, including the care of our cat, our garden, lawn care etc). But... quite frankly, I feel like a little impatient kid waiting for Christmas, and I wanna lay on the floor and throw a tantrum crying, "How much longer???? I wanna go NOW!"

I am 27 days out and I am going crazy. I went to see Jurassic World last night and the music started playing and all I could think about was being at Universal. Going home I threw the Four Parks cd on.

Te last week always goes too fast. I'm always planning everything that I will do, and I end up doing none of it and trying to clean my house.

We've driven the last four trips. That last week is full of "did the car sound right, does that tire look low,did I just see the check engine light?" I feel your pain. Like OP said though, live in the moment, life's too short not to. Have a magical trip

I don't fit in either camp here (too slow/too quickly). Just like Christmas, I find the anticipation is equally as wonderful as the event itself. For me, I relish in the build-up all that last week. I mostly park my computer on Disboards and tweak touring plans, check menus, and watch a Disney movie or two.

I booked our trip 11 months ago when I bought into the DVC; How do you think I'm feeling with only 4 days to go before we are in Disney? LOL

Hehe, yes I did the tweaking last night. Today I'm souring the 'net for hotel coupons for our drive home and back.

Pass the time by cleaning. Sort through clothes and get rid of ones no one wears. Shred those old documents. Clean the bathrooms. Clean out a few closets.
When you get back, it will be great coming home to a clean organized house.

Well... I just figured out how I'm going to pass the time. As I was driving today the check engine light came on in our car - the same car we're supposed to be driving to Florida. Took it into the mechanics thinking it was a fluke, nope. Looking like the timing chain is shot, and JOY... they're booked right up until next week. And the a/c is shot in our other vehicle, nor are we even sure it's in good enough shape for the 6000 kilometer journey, and it also can't be fixed before we leave. So, I'm now spending my time driving DH to and from work so that I can have a car to run my errands/get to appointments, AND, now I'm trying to find us a vehicle to drive to Florida on Monday, or else we're going to have to try and book flights. The dealership said they might be able to get it fixed in time, if it's only the timing chain, but he said he really wasn't sure. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Mine went on tonight. 26 days out. I am flying, but not an expense I needed
