How do you enterain a cat?

My 6 toed neurotic cat enjoys:

cat tree
bottle caps (carries in her mouth, or lays on floor and pushes it under the door)
tennis balls to chase and attack
kitchen rug to attack (and hide under to swat at our toes)
investigating the printer while in use (she insists on hitting the scan/copy button)...

I've wanted to get her one of these, I like that the toy can have variety with whatever you put in the holes.

I have this one, she ignores it for awhile.. and then rediscovers it again. She can be happy for hours laying on the floor, pushing the ball on the base back and forth between her paws. Or she gets a ball to spin the loop, watches it from afar to sneak up and WHACK it yet agan.

show her the cursor on the computer screen. I have two cats sitting behind my monitor right now awaiting the cursor they are so sure is back there. Every so often one of them will peek over the screen to see if it's still here.

We make this thing we call a "treat box". You have to try it!

Take an empty kleenex box. Cut a few smallish holes in it, maybe one or two on each size. We usually make them about the diameter of three fingers (but you can experiment).

Then fill the box with cat treats! Maybe a handful or so. It may take a little time and encouragement to show your cat how to play with it, but in a little while, they will start pushing it around the room, rolling it, pawing it, tipping it over, jamming their little paws through the top, etc. They love it because the more they mess around with it, the more treats come out!!!

Our fat, lazy, easily bored kitty loves him a treat box!!

I've found that watching a cat after he's had some catnip is very entertaining!

My fat, lazy cat opens radom doors all the time. Nothing like being by yourself and seeing a door open verrrrry sloooowly....

How about that big hole where the tissues come out? Do you cover that out? He might actually like something like this.

yeah, we just leave the big hole at the top. Sometimes he does dump a bunch out at once when he tips it just the right way, but that's okay. We usually buy "premium brand" dried food (like fancy feast kibble) and pretend like it's treats. They don't know the difference (and its a lot cheaper)

Mine like to play with my little pony and other assorted kid toys.

I am thinking about getting one of these. They love laser pointers and could chase the red dot all evening long if I would let them.

I was going to suggest a laser pointer. My cat is kinda neurotic and psycho. When she gets in those moods and I want to calm her down, I will throw a blanket over her. It calms her down right away. I don't know what it is, but she'll stay under there for hours. As soon as you remove the blanket, she becomes psycho kitty again.

Perhaps it's time to call Confuse-a-Cat, Ltd.!!!
Classic!:happytv:

Catnip in this house is evil. My cat get VIOLENT and attacks people.

Are the people getting close to the cat while he has the catnip? Because my cat is also very um... possessive of it and it is not recommended that anyone get anywhere near said cat shortly after the catnip has been given.

Or are you saying that after your cat is done with the catnip he's violent? Because my cat has the opposite reaction. Once she's done eating and rolling around in it, she is very mellow. :smokin:

He will attack anyone withn five feet. Its bad, I have scars. when hes done, he pounces on the other cat (his lover, there fixed) rips out a chunk of hair and struts off to bed.

I will play a game I call "Fling The Cat". I will scoop her up under her body and with a gentle underhand toss she will land six to eight feet away. She willo come back to me and I will toss her again. After four or five tosses she finds something else to keep herself occupied.

Bottle caps.
You can't leave a cap off your drink or kitty will bat it off the table and smack it around the kitchen for a while.

My kitten loves bottle caps. But he also likes to leave them in our shoes so sometimes when we are not paying attention we will get sore feet from trying to put them on with a cap inside.

My cat only plays with straws. He is known to steal them out of unattended fast food beverages, quite delicately by turning his head sideways just so and drrrraaawing out the straw.

He plays with it until he loses it under the couch, where he cannot slink.

Another favorite of mine with ALL cats is kitty-fishing. Get a kid's fishing pole and tie on a wadded up paper ball or yarn. Reel it in and cast it way out for your cat. Reel it past him, and let the pouncing begin. My cat will chase the fishing pole for ever, until he collapses basically. And it's hilarious to boot!

I agree laser pointers are always entertaining for cats and another fun thing for cats is tiny balls they can chase after.

my little one carries a shoelace around with her. All over the house. The other two see it moving and chase it, and she gets mad so she tries to pull it away, and they just chase it that much more.

I don't know how entertaining it is to them, but I think it's pretty darn funny. :goodvibes

after todays experance, Hes getting a lazer pointer. He went nutzo over my lazer level, tried to kill the wall.
