How do you eat on a spontaneous trip?

Keeo trying I think people double book so eventually they have to cancel a few or until they get what they want. I wanted CP for breakfast Christmas day, I must of called for a month and low and behold I got one for Christmas morning at 9:15, I was nervous about not being able to try it there and get entrance into the park that day but with persisstance (SP) I got it, I am sure most likely you will to Goos luck, I do hope you get what you want :)

A lot of CS, and eating at the resorts and Downtown Disney. I also try to make lunch my big meal. Cheaper, and easier to get in.

I don't think the food at Disney is anything to write home about, so I don't care if I eat CS or TS while I am there. I have found that you can *generally* get a same-day ADR for an early meal (early lunch or early dinner) if you are not too fussy about which restaurant it is at. Of course, you probably will not get CRT or Le Celliar this way (but both are incredibly overrated, IMHO).

I also found getting seated at DTD restaurants was easier than park restaurants.

Since everyone was so encouraging I thought I would give an update. I did get ADRs today: Chefs de France, Liberty Tree Tavern and Boma. I'll also follow the advice to "eat spontaneously." Thanks all!

In 2004 on our last day at MK, we went to Tony's for a late lunch / early dinner (around 4pm). They were happy to let us wait for a table and we were seated within 35-mins; to me that isn't a bad waiting time for a table!

In 2006 my parents went alone and got seated at numerous TS restaurants with not much wait - but they did eat at 'odd' times, i.e. not your normal lunch or dinner time, so they didn't really have an issue.

They ate at some of the lovely GF restaurants, Sci Fi Dine In and a few others I can't remember!

Until our trip in summer and finding the DISBOARDS I had NO idea about ADRs! We just ate at CS places!

Welcome to the "Wonderful World of DDP", the downfall of dining at WDW.

Try Big River Grille at BW, Trails End at FW, Shula's at Dolphin, The Plaza at MK, Trattoria at the Swan, Artist Point at WL, Captain's Grille at YC (very good b'fast, crab cake benedict).

I just called this morning and these places were available:

Dec 15 Grand Floridian Cafe, Captain's Grill (yacht club), Whispering Canyon
Dec 16 Hollywood & Vine, 9 Dragons, Morocco, Biergarten

Rather than asking for a particular restaurant, I just asked what was available anywhere. You might have to be flexible and try someplace new.
